Title: Should the glove box be slow opening?

Hi all, quick question. Should the glove box on a ED 30 be slow opening? I only ask as mine isn't and I've found a little white plastic cog in the glove box and wondered if it was anything from it? My last car (A3 s line) had a slow opening glove box and thought it was a nice touch.

Hmm Ok cheers will have a look at it later, hopefully will find a guide on here on rremoving it :)
