Title: Leather seat Heeeeelllppp!
Post by: TomGTI on April 07, 2013, 09:18:16 pm
Got out of my car today and noticed a slice or tear to the upper side of the seat, i dont know how it happened either ware and tear or it may of got caught in a zip on a jacket or something. Either way im gutted my poor pride and joy, as you can see on the second photo there is already ware on outside of the seat which i knew about.

Is there a way to repair it or is it possible to get a replacment leather cover with out costing an arm and leg as ive just this week put a deposit down on buying my first house so need all the pennies i can get my hands on

Im not bothered if the repair isnt as new i just want to get it sorted. :happy2:

Thanks

Your best bet is too find a really good local car upholsterer. They will replace just the torn panel.
VW will charge you a fortune, I have a small nick in the bolster if my ed 30 and the dealers wanted £800 for a seat base cover... and a highly recommended upholsterer quoted £80.

I haven't got round to it yet as I've had a big bill very recently (clutch, flywheel, 2 new calipers, discs & pads)

Looking at that your seat has been poorly repaired in the past on the outer bolster and where it has torn, a good upholsterer will be able to put 2 new panels in and have it as good as new. :happy2:

Not sure if it been repaired before but if it has its a perfect colour match but I've just sent the picture to a mobile company that will come out to me a repair it they seem pretty legit company's called 'Leather Care & Repair' if you've heard of them?
