as you'd expect, my oil light came on. (my fault for not checking sooner but hey) after a quick search i found 5w30 seemed to be popular?
but id like a bit more clarification from the horses mouth
thanks!
-
Yeap, that's the one! :happy2:
-
Most use Castrol edge 5W-30 oil.
-
cheers boys! fully synthetic yeah?
-
Yeah castrol edge 5w-30 fully synthetic is fine or if your using the car really hard i.e for track use step it up to an ester synthetic 5w-40 oil for example motul v300 or fuchs 5w-40 .

That very same oil from ECP was £24 in Costco recently. :surprised:
-
Millers Nano Drive CFS 5w40 NT - "best oil for a gti" comment from the guys at statller when i gave them this to change my oil.

But was it FST though?!
Don't crucify me, I'm only joking!! :signLOL:

Im using the 5W -30 Castrol Edge as a top up , is that what the dealer uses?
-
My local stealer used Shell 5w30 but I'm now using the Millers nanodrive 5w40
-
Don't all dealer have to use quantum oil as that's their own brand
-
You would've thought that but as dealers are franchises they can technically use what they want as long as it meets the correct spec
-
Using 5w40 Millers nano drive. Seems to prefer it to the quantum stuff.
-
essex & suffolk dealers are using shell oil. Seems shell have worked closely with vw to produce a DPF friendly oil to 507.01 spec
get mine from moto-oil.co.uk
-
I'm not too choosy on oil and have run many brands over the years with no ill, or really noticeable effects to mention on any of my 13 GTi's, BMW's or subaru's.
I got this last month. Seems slick and pricey so must be good?!!!

Millers is the best you can get .
Castrol seem to be having issues with motorcycle products at the moment .
-
Castrol edge gets my vote
-
Another Castrol Edge 5W-30 :happy2:
-
I use Castrol Edge 5w 30 in my GTI, but my girlfriends dad swears by Millers and he will use nothing else in his Porsche. If its good enough for Porsche then it must be ok for a GTI.
-
Millers has a good rep. Pricey though. You can usually get Edge on offer somewhere.
-
Castrol Edge 5W-30. :pomppomp:

Millers nano drive 5w40 :happy2:

Castrol Edge 5W 30 :happy2:
-
Castrol Edge 5W-30 for sure ! :jumpmove:
-
VW recommend 5w30 from Castrol but my old main dealer used shell helix. I'm now using the millers nano drive 5w40
-
I personally use Quantum 5w30 Longlife3
meets all regulations set by VAG, and occasionally on offer at TPS for under £18 plus vat and thats for 5litres
(and a cheeky fact, quantum oils and made by castrol)
