Evening All, Was driving to my old mans last night and as I went round a bend the oil light came and on and my mid-line instructed me to check the level, I went and got some oil straight away and topped the old girl up..
anyway I put a litre in, it was dark so I put that in and thought that would get me home safely enough - which it did.
This morning in the light I dipped it and it was still well below... another litre went in....
Ive checked it a few times over the course of today and its on the max reading on the dipstick yet the light hasn't gone out nor has the command instructing me to check the level...
Does this signify another problem?
Do I have to manually reset the oil switch? - I was assuming its a pressure switch?
Thanks for any help guys :happy2:

Most likely the bonnet catch sensor playing up, the car needs to 'see' the bonnet open and close to reset the low oil warning light, it's usually the micro switch on the underside of the latch assembly so maybe try a quick blast of wd40 etc :happy2:

^ sooo technically I could pretend to fill my car up with oil and the sensor would go out? lol :S

I have a similar issue where the 'check oil level' warning keep flashing up. I know the level is ok and put it down to a faulty level/temp sensor. Sensor was changed and for a couple of months I never saw it. Now it's back and keep doing it. I'm not sure whether its something to do with having the Polar FIS fitted. Been meaning to disconnect it and try it without for a while to rule it out.

This is what I do everytime the warning shows. Open the boot for a minute or so and close again. Annoying having to keep doing it though :fighting:
