Anyone heard of Arrowspeed tyres (kwikfit brand), Altenzo comfort A (Halfords), or Autogrip F107 (ATS).
Any experience/knowledge of these ?
Need some budget tyres for a spare set of rims shortly in 225 40 18 size

If you have to go budget look at some falkens. :smiley:

The Mercedes garage down my way said good things about these tyres but never had any personal experience

i've heard of the falken fk452, i might have a look at those as well

They're reasonably good for a cheaper tyre. I would recommend them for the price.
The thing is i run michelin ps3's now and although budgets are cheaper to buy they never last as long and the grip is not as good. Its a false economy buying cheaper tyres really. :happy2:

If you must run budgets, look at:
Maxxis MA-Z1
Kumho KU31
Nexen N6000
I have used all the above on performance cars, ED30, R26 Renaultsport etc
Camskill carry them.
Also, Avon ZZ5 are a damn good tyre for just that bit more

Part worn are more often been in a crash on fleabay unless you buy from a Private seller.
When you factor the cost of fuel into how long tyres last (10-15k+) they are cheap. We've all heard it a thousand times but don't scrimp on brakes and tyres. :happy2:

Budget tyres are dangerous mate.
Think thats bit of a stupid answer and also dangerous as you dont know what kind of life the second hand tyres have had!
I'd rather have brand new budgets than some second hand top brand for sure

Thats my thinking as well, was actually watching some pirelli p zero's and they went for £373 not including fitting !
People seem to be paying outrageous prices for branded tyres at the moment

Budget tyres are dangerous mate.
I think this should be rephrased a little. Crappy no name cheap Tyres should be avoided yes. Budgets, can also mean 'middle of the road' ie good tyres, at a reasonable price. There's nothing wrong with Avons, Maxxis etc. I know, I've used them. Some linglong tingtong whatever at 50 quid a corner should be avoided like the plague

Agree with that, i know they'll be a compromise on life and performance, but that's why they're cheaper !

keep away from arrow speeds tyres and auto grip as they are crap in the wet,the nexen and kuhmo are ok for a budget tyre

I've used loads of part worn tyres from Ebay before I went changed jobs 18 months ago as I couldn't afford new tyres, but would not run budgets. Most come from tyre shops who replace a pair of tyres when one is punctured, hence they have one good one with 5mm or so tread to sell.
Sometimes you get pairs, and who cares how they came up for sale? As long as there is no damage or punctures.. which you can always tell from the picture and the description. Probably have had 12 or 14 different part worns before buying new rubber and never had a problem with any of them.

You just proved what I mean about peoples perception of budget tyre. Budget can mean low and medium range (hence saving money is budgeting).

Well falkens and kumho's are not a premium brand. Ok call them mid range if you want. To be honest if you have a gti you should be fitting decent tyres. Its up to you if you want to be nit picky and fit ditchfinders. Be my guest.

I'm using Falkens at the mo and they're fine but I would not say they are tested to the max. I also had Acceleras on a Freelander I had and they were spot on, someone told me they are the same company as Vreds but not sure if this is true.
If I've not heard of them I don't use them, I'll always go for the price as a guide and go for example the £80-90 range as apposed to the £120 plus or sub £60 mark so basically middle of the road.
Lots of comments on part worns above and must admit I've bought them a couple of times with no hassles, at the end of the day when you buy a 2nd hand car you buy 2nd hand tyres, I'm fairly sure not many people change a perfectly good set of tyres every time they buy a 2nd hand car????
I've always gone for the German imports as apparently they have to change tyres every year over there it's the law????

Falkens, kumho, maxxis are decent Tyres ! Just not the most expensive.

There's always going to be tyre snobs when you start one of these threads claiming that if you don't buy the most expensive tyres you're insane and sure to crash, what some people find hard to understand is that not everyone has £250-300 to spend every time you change two tyres.

Arrowspeed bad in the dry and horrendous in the wet IMO!
Do a search online for reviews of the various tyres - there is a lot of info out there if you do a bit searching.
As has been said before 'never skimp on tyres and brakes' just aint worth it

Vredestein are owned by the Appolo group based in Netherlands. They make some very good quality tyres indeed!

I just got X4 Delinte Thunder D7's with my new wheels but never heard of them! Apparently from reading up, they are designed for high performance and the speed rating is 168+. But as said, never heard of them! We'll see what they're like.

I knew the car would be sold before I would get the (claimed) 30-40k mile ware out of them, so went down the budget route. What I did end up buying were a set of brand new Nexen 900's. They actually came 2nd or 3rd in a power survey carried out by one of the big car mags.
For my everyday driving, I've found them to be quite good.

At the time, my supplier said that because if their reviews, their price will start increasing....and he was right. At the time, I paid £85 per corner - fitted. Now they're about £130 each.

That's what happened with the vredestein ultrac sessanta's. They were at mid range price but after getting decent reviews the price went up.
