I've recently traced a rattle when I go over speed bumps, potholes etc to the rear offside disc guard/shield, which is now free to move back and forth, thus bouncing/rubbing against the disc when the occasion calls for it.
It appears that the top mounting screw has sheared/rusted as is now no longer supported in this area.
Is this a common fault? Also, will this mean having to remove the rear hub in order to access the mounting fastener?
Cheers John

It's common after the winter months with all the salt about.
You can hack it off with a hacksaw (I feel dust shields are pretty useless on the rears).
Or it's disc, caliper and caliper carriers off, then you should be able to get at it. :happy2:

Thanks folks! I've bent it back a bit and seems to have shut it up for now..will tackle it properly when it starts rattling again
