Title: RCD510 question.

My brother in law has just bought a 07/57 Passat Tdi Sport 140 and wants to fit an RCD510, does anyone know if there'll be any issues or will there be some work to do to ensure no battery drain etc? I've read somewhere that it's just 08 cars (all types) onwards that can take this unit without buying extra fittments?

He'll need to upgrade the CAN gateway thingy to avoid battery drain because of the TIM function on the head unit. Call your local VW and they can tell you which version is currently in the car. Then PM eddie-nl who can supply the unit. Use the search button using quotation marks if you want to read more. "can gateway upgrade". Hope that helps.

He should be ok if he has a later 2007 car. Some K version canbus are fine but to be safe if he has an L version or later then he will be fine. Easiest way to check will be with a VCDS scan :happy2:
