Title: Close to a GTI return??

Hi all - have been using this place as a great source of information lately so thought I should post!

Used to own a 55 plate GTI 5 Door DSG in Blue Graphite but got rid of it after 15 months or so (big mistake) and have since had a BMW 320d, Focus ST (mapped to approx 275bhp) and currently Audi A4 Avant 2.0 TDI Sline.

Anyway - I've had enough of this diesel malarky and so have decided to return to the Mk 5 GTI fold (or better still hope to get an Edition 30).

Currently have a couple of local dealers searching for a car for me (hoping to get one around the £18k mark) and coming back with a trade in price for my A4 (shocking I guess it'll be!).

Anyway - hope to be able to post some pics of a new motor in the coming weeks!  :happy2:

Good luck on your search, The GTi is hard to forget , been there and made the costly mistake selling my 1st one. Never again! :happy2:

Well its been a good day so far - those pics might not be too far away now!

Think I've found a car! - have placed a 'holding deposit' on it (as the dealer is over 200 miles away!).  Happy with the p/ex price offers on my car too.

Car I've found is a 08 plate Edition 30 5 door (keeps the wife and kids happy!) in Tornado Red - not much in the way of extra spec - then again that doesn't bother me too much as I plan to add a RNS510 shortly afterwards anyway.  At least the mileage is low - about less than 8000.

Just got to organise a day when I can travel to view it - just hope it turns out to be a good 'un.  If not I'll get my deposit back and the search will continue!  :smiley:

I did have a link, but as I've put a deposit down, the dealer has taken it off the web completely!

Should have some photos around here somewhere I can post though.

Its pretty much standard Ed30 from what I can tell though - an RNS510 will be added shortly after purchase though!!  :happy2:

i would look closely for stone chips on the front section of the bonnet, and front splitter , shouldnt be excessive for a low mileage car.

May give you ammo to either knock the price down or get them to send you a close up photo via email to get an idea. That and Pics of all the alloys :happy2:

Ta for all the welcomes guys!

Found out the Ed30 has Centre Armrest, rear parking sensors and the heat/sun reflecting glass?? Quite pleased really as I didn't think it had any extras at all!

Hope to be making the trip to get it late this coming week so need to hurry and get a RNS510 sorted now!  :grin:

Haven't got the car yet, but my RNS510 has been ordered  :happy2:

You're right Tornado Red is a superb colour.

It looks really shiny in the pics - hope it's as nice in the flesh.

Getting excited now - tomorrow's the day.

Just got to deal with the 240 mile drive and then hope that the car is in the condition I hope it is!

With a bit of luck I'll be a Tornado Red Ed30 owner at lunchtime  :happy2:

At the garage now - looks lovely - only 1 stone chip (tiny) - has rear parking sensors, mfsw, centre armrest with iPod connection - very pleased.

Pics tonight when I get home - 250 miles later!

Well the journey home was much more fun  :grin:

Car is fantastic to drive - really nice to get back in a swift petrol motor again.  Golf feels much more responsive than my Focus ST I had a year or so back and the DSG is just as good as I remember it from my 55 plate.

Not had time to take more than one pic - too busy driving - but here is the one I took at the dealers (only on an iphone I'm afraid but you get the idea!)
