Hi all had nothing but problems from day 1 n now I've had car for about 5 week. Right were do I start 1 st of all I replaced dv and that increased my power by loads as it was completely knackered then cam follower then a coil pack then maf sensor then my live wire goin to maf was dead so got that fixed now when u put your foot down it will splutter or misfire then take off until next gear then same again. If you give it a bit of welly for a min or 2 it will cut power and go into limp mode turn engine off then it's ok til u put foot down again. Take maf sensor out no spluttering but still goes into limp mode. I've reset engine Managment n no codes are back on even tho problems still persist. Really need this fixing any advice.

You have VCDS.. I suggest you Copy up your fault codes. :happy2:
Then peeps might be able to help you better. :happy2:
Are you remapped? Does the car do this in Stock mode?
If no codes are showing, it could well be a mechanical issue or spark plugs as this wouldn't show up in VCDS errors either.
-
Ok will do. How do I do this sorry I'm a newbie thanks

Copy and paste is the easiest method ..

Mechanical such as ? I thought about changing plugs as a precaution my car also smells of petrol abit wen cold from start up does any1 else's?

Car shouldn't smell of fuel.. They run rich on start up, so you might smell it via exhaust from cold.. As long as your oil isn a wash with fuel! You could log the MAF reading which will give u approx Hp output by multiplying the readings by by 0.80.
Have you checked the PCV valve?
-
it will be your plugs (which you should replace if they've not been done in the last 10k miles) or, failing that, a dodgy coil pack (replace). I've had the problem twice (misfire when accelerating) first time it was plugs, second time a coil pack :happy2:

been done on service book 5k agojust replaced 1 coilpack too.trying to upload faults codes now.

So no fault codes under the 01-ENGINE label?
-
nope. do u hae any idea what this points to. sparkplugs coil packs etc
-
Well.. bit of an odd one. Usually spark related misfires are logged in the ECU.
-
also if it was sparkplugs coil packs wouldnt it do it all the time ? drives perfect if your driving like miss daisy but as soon as u put foot down splutter splutter then take off . dont no weither its my paranoa but im sure i can smell sum sort of burning meltinting smell
-
The boost could be blowing out the spark, maybe worth reducing the spark plug gap? 0.6mm may be worth a try

No... i had a missfire problem a while back which only happened when giving it beans on full throttle.
What plugs are your using?
-
Id log a run, see what fuel looks like.
-
wat about boost leak or do you just lose power. sorry for spelling i blame carlsberg export :happy2:
-
like i said above if i put my foot down for 1 min or 2 engine manegmant light will come on iv done this log with no light on wouud you try log with light on .dont really want to over do it while cars not right but may b it will show another / diffrent code ?
-
how d u log a run with vcds .dont no wat sparkplugs ive got havnt checked as yet will do tomoz.
-
If its just under engine load it will be plugs. The coilpacks would misfire under any load if they were faulty. I had this issue and plugs fixed it. It would be worth fitting the latest revision pcv valve as a preventative measure too.

id do this. its a shame its not logging which cylinder is causing the issue
-
Before I deleted log it was cylinder 3 so I replaced coil pack if this is any help
-
it will be your plugs (which you should replace if they've not been done in the last 10k miles) or, failing that, a dodgy coil pack (replace). I've had the problem twice (misfire when accelerating) first time it was plugs, second time a coil pack :happy2:
This is why VW recommends a service interval of 40k miles for the spark plugs :signLOL:
-
Get the plugs changed. I had a failed plug recently and didn't show up with a scan :happy2:
-
Plugs was changed last service 5 k ago guna changed em today tho.
-
Have you changed your plugs... I had this after 5k miles following a main dealer service where they were supposed to change plugs...
Plugs hadn't been changed... Probably original plugs... Fault reading found no faults... As plugs don't give gAults like a coil pack will...
-
After all hassle I've had n it's the plugs thanks guys hopefully problems been solved. I can't thankyou enough thankyou.
-

ngk with vw badge on em.

done the dipstick test and it runs poorly with it out so I presume that's ok.
-
Just put ngk platinum in seems fine fingers crossed.
-
This morning was on way to work went into limp mode no engine light tho ? Yesterday it was fine. Turn engine off for a second back to normal ??

Run a VCDS scan, a fault code is usually logged when it goes into limp mode!
-
Thanks will do.
-
I did hear sum pinker ing in exhaust other day as if sumthing shot down it do u think previous owners tryed pre cat removal n messed it up. Havnt done a log yet didn't have time. Will try do 1 tn8
-
Just run vcds boost over regulated. Any ideas plz
-
It could be many things. It could be a faulty n75 valve that deals with the boost. Though id perhaps take it to a garage to diagnose rather than guessing what it might be.
