Hi
Used the search function to no avail, just brings up threads from years back.
Right, I have new continental sport contact 5s on the rear and on the front I've Bridgestone potenza RE050A which are now at end of life.
Problem I have is to stick to continentals so all the same or get Bridgestone or maybe michelins?
Or maybe even Goodyear which I hear everyone rates highly?
Trouble is I'm a stickler for the main brands like Michelin an Bridgestone.
Hmmm

If you choose the Michelin PS3 then they have an fuel voucher offer for 2 tyres or more, £50. Or if you choose Good year eagle F1 asy 2 then you get a £10 voucher bought per tyre.
Conti's do seem hard wearing, and you would then have a matching set.

Right now it's pretty unanimous that Goodyear eagle f1 asymmetric 2's are the best all round tyre. You will see this in magazine group tests and the majority of peeps on here seem to concur. :happy2:

I've always stuck with Contis on all my Golfs, find them brillaint in the wet.....let's face it, it rains a lot in this country....and I live in Wales, it rains even more here!!
-
Goodyear is still a big brand like Michelin and Pirelli etc :happy2:
-
Goodyear is a huge brand, get the F1's and find out just how great they are :happy2:
-
Mine came with conti sport contact 2's ...I'm now on uniroyall rain experts ...contis were better in every way ...except road noise ...ive used michelins and have to say they were great performing right down to wear limits and lasting longest of all tyres ive had

This! :happy2:

Goodyear Eagle F1 Assym 2s, definitely better than the Conti 3s I had on prior to them and much better than the Michelins before that!
-
I was skeptical about the Goodyear (Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2) to start with. Didn't want to move away from Pirelli's as I like the P-Zero's. The power of the forum was too strong.
I now have Goodyear's on a PIRELLI edition!
Seem to have better dry grip from a standing start. :driver:

Always run ContiSport2's or 3's and Pilot Sport 2's and 3's on the MK5 GTI, now the Audi too.
Never had a problem and find them great tyres to live with. I don't doubt there's better out there for raw grip but for an 'everyday' tyre I think they take some beating
Ultimately your preference within budget though.

Awesome replies so far lads!! Keep em coming.
Anyone had the Bridgestone potenza RE050a's?
Cheers
-
Had RE040' and 50's on my civic type r. Seemed a good tyre but found them very noisy... Haven't had them since. Annoyed the cr*p out of me

The £10 voucher offer runs in a week or so...
hope this helps

Cheers.
Just seen the Michelin offer of £50 fuel voucher with 2 tyres, not bad!
-
Only get PSS or PS2 if you go that route. PS3s are not performance tyres...
-
I use Conti CSC3 on mine! I love the grip they offer!

Try Assym 2s which I think are marginally better than the CSC3 in the dry but miles ahead in the wet! You will never look back!
-
Agreed. I always found the Contis a bit skittish in the wet...
-
got Bridgestone potenza S001 on my gt tdi.
whats the difference between these and the ops bridgestones?
-
I shall have a look next time I need tyres! Won't be for ages though as I only do about 7000 a year :signLOL
Maybe if I get bigger wheels

Yeah I should have added the super sports are in a league of their own, but never having driven on them I can't really be endorsing them personally!

Pilot super sports aren't available in 225/40/r18 92y
