Evening all,
I'll be jacking my MK5 up for the first time to change wheels, I note that the jack with the car has a recess on it to go into a metal lip about 1cm deep at the four corners, I will be using a trolley jack and assume you simply put the jack under this metal lip? Daft question possibly but I'm use to cars with a 'proper' jacking point, often with a point wide enough for a proper trolley jack.
Cheers in advance for any responses.

Really?
There are double-seamed parts of the sill to jack up from. In the owners manual bro. :jumpmove:

There are some proper jacking points under removable plastic plates, but you can use the reinforced sill ones with your trolley jack... Remember to use axle stands too :happy2:

I noted the jacking points in my initial post, the owners manual only talks about platform lifts and the original jack, not using a trolley jack as other cars I've raised do, I've never seen a reinforced seem before, most odd. To think the cars being raised on that one cm wide piece of metal seems a little odd.

Many thanks for your reply. Odd again that the manual doesn't mention the plastic plates, I'm beginning to think VW don't want you to do any work yourself!

Here is a thread from a while back pertaining to the Butt plug lifting points. :happy2:
