Title: Not a Golf but a C30 1.6D surging / pulsing, any ideas?
Post by: Scottymon on April 30, 2013, 05:01:13 pm
Any ideas what this could be?

Car stationary, maintain bite point and little revs (1.2k say) to begin to move, then engine starts pulsing / surging, revs climb up and down, about 500 revs or so, you can hold it there, the car not moving but it continues to pulse (for want of a better word)

It's under warranty but an idea is always good... Idle control valve? / Engine temp sensor?

Hi, I have c30 1.6 petrol r design, I had a similar problem just over a year ago, I took it into volvo,  they sorted the problem with in a few hours, it all came back to the idle control value. Something to do with the solenoid which determines how much (or less)the plunger constricts air flow. Hope that helps
