So i attempted to update my software on my RNS510 radio in my mk6 golf gti 59 plate today, from vw software disk form a friend who works at vw it is SW 1200 witch is what their computers say is the required update for my head unit, it was all going well and then on the last section witch is "gateway" it hits 10% through is and spits the disk out saying error?? does anybody know why it does this? and will not do anymore than that??
i think i read something about you may have to update the CAN gateway??
Thanks steve

Steve try cleaning the disc an put it back in,these things happen sometimes just keep persevering with it!!!!
you definitely don't need a new can gateway

Try burning it onto cd or DVD (the opposite to which its burnt onto now) mine wouldn't update from a dvd but would update fine from a cd.

As above, try a CD for firmware, DVD for maps.
Try another writer if you can - new software or different laptop.
I'd go straight to 3810 as it repartitions the hard disk making it more future proof, though you'd have to reload music and maps as they get wiped.
3810 disc I burned worked on my A unit and another members C, no problems.
