Title: Economy
Post by: jamma on May 06, 2013, 05:26:07 pm
Drove from Bournemouth to London this morning and was averaging under 21.2 mpg . Once I hit m25 I slowed down to about 75 and 31.7 mpg was seen . Was thinking maybe I need a diesel as will do this drive every weekend but this afternoon I took it easy , cruised from hearts to Essex (44 miles ) using cruise control set at 65 for most of the journey and got 37.6 mpg  on main roads which I thought was excellent . What economy have other people got from their car ? Mine is revo stage one , not sure that makes a difference .

Average (on display number 2) was 34.2mpg on my old Stage 1 GTI

That was a mix of town & motorway. I used to get 40-42mpg on a long motorway run (190miles) with cruise set at 69mph  :notworthy:

Never bother going faster than that as I never seem to get anywhere quicker  :signLOL:

Don't know if the tuner makes a difference, most stage one seem to get similar or same as before it was mapped. mine wasnt Revo but a small tuner in Hinkley

Best I've managed on a long cruise (between 65-80mph) was an actual 53.8mpg (not using the dash as it registered the same journey with an average of 59.5mpg!!)

That in a 185bhp mapped pd140 2.0 tdi

69 on the clock (66 on the sat nav)

I seem to have a knack of great MPG from cars

-40-41mpg from my Civic Type R
- 36mpg from Focus ST 2.5
-56mpg from the Rocco

I had 38.3 mpg on the computer today. Not bad , but my 50,000 mile 05 GTI used to top 40 MPG on its computer , I think this 58 plate one needs a bit more running in (only 20600 on it so far)

I'm only averaging about 50 mpg from my 105ps 1.9 that's a lot less horses for not a lot more mpg... I'd take the loss just for more smiles!!  :driver:

My sooty pd 140 does over 300 miles a week (250 motorway miles) and my clocks never go below 50mpg and my cruise is set to around 70-80 (probably the higher)

Not sure if that helps you petrol guys  :happy2:

Since Friday I've averaged 18.6mpg.  I have diagnosed the problem. It's called a stage 1 remap!  :driver: just got it done Friday. Don't know why I waited so long!

Got 36.5 today on a trip to the coast. Mainly A Roads, bit trafficy.  Mainly get 30 and a bit on slow  commute. GTI no mods.
Had 50.1 from my wifes 2.0TDI,250mile round trip, mostly motorways recently. 3 up and fair bit of luggage.  Must have been on the continent cos we were pushing 80 - 85 satnav........

Did a run across the A69 then up the A74(M) this weekend and got 27MPG both ways.
On parts of the A roads it was early 30s I was getting where held up by traffic.

Only ever got ~45MPG with my mapped 2.0 TDI on the same route, I'm happy to trade Miles Per Gallon for Smiles Per Gallon.

Stage 2 Edition 30 (316bhp), On a 400 mile trip from Norfolk to Cornwall at a fast cruise was 29.2mpg.

To my Golf club and back (24 mile round trip) all A/B Roads, was 25-26mpg.

Sold it and bought a BMW 330D which gives me 40mpg and 46mpg should get 1-2mphg more when its been remapped to 325-330bhp  :happy2:

I often get mod to high 30's on a 100 mile commute in the rush hour driving at the various national speed limits. I got 40 on one of those journeys last week in the warm weather

My driving never really takes into account long journeys. I normally get around 26/27 MPG. Even when I do venture further I rarely go above 30, thats at driving 70 and never really pushing it

No, I bought the Touring as I am a keen Golfer and needed the extra space, love the way it eats up the miles and does not drink a drop of oil between services. Looking forward to remap in next few weeks  :happy2:

in the colder weather I was getting around 32mpg on a 150 mile stretch of a12 and m1 doing around 90. I have managed 37mpg doing constant 70 on the same stretch( outside temp was around 4degrees)

Havnt tried it with the weather being much warmer but I know it'll be much better
