Only thing i done so far is clean it and fit a VW bottle opener.
Got some pressed plates and surrounds on order plus some internal led lights.
Plans are to fit a rcd510/rns510 and get a re-map then go from there
Quick question regarding the trip computer, i guess there is 2 different recordings a 1 and a 2, but does one re-set every time you leave the vehicle?
Rick
-
Great pictures, u will be over the moon with a remap :happy2:
-
Yes 1 is your current trip or Daily total if you've done several trips etc. 2 is the accumulative /average :happy2:
-
Welcome on board Rick! :happy2:
Nice car fella.
-
Ah thanks, that makes sense, so if i clear trip 2 when i fill up i can see the averages for that tank?
Loving the dsg and having boost,
First plans are stereo and getting cruise control fitted.
and thanks everyone :drinking:
-
Very nice :happy2:
-
Well thought I should update this.
Got paper work back from DVLA so got my reg transferred onto the golf, also had my plate surrounds and pressed plates turn up..

Probably one of best things I done since then I replaced the SD card with a 16GB in black
Changed most of the interior lights to LED ones, but no picture also got a VAGCOM cable and enabled anti hi-jack and the indicators as DRL's
Also LaminX'd my fog lights
Then enjoyed just driving it for abit, gave it a few washes this was pre DC13

Also have more plates ordered, in the disguise of 6 digit shortened pressed plates that are all legal.
Also should have a twin take waiting for me at home I bought :)
-
Smoothed mask looks great mate.
Fitting plate with magnets?
Si
-
Yeah not 100% happy with the paint. Guess I'm
Just being fussy! Will probably run it for now and either get it professionally done or buy a US Spec.
Yeah have a bunch of magnets en-route. Just need some foam or something to back plate with.
May just run it in window till they arrive.
Next is to save for a revo stage 1
-
Sounds cool mate, got a link to what magnets your going to use?
Cheers
-
Fantastic pictures mate, the car is lovely!
-
Thanks for all comments.
Regards to magnets have these coming..
http://bit.ly/1asXlEh
Got 20 of them. Think going to use 6 on plate 6 on bumper. And I'm sure unread the pull on them is fair amount!
My biggest worry is glueing magnets to my plate but have some aralidite to try help with that.
-
Cheers look good, will order some up :happy2:
-
Cheers look good, will order some up :happy2:

No worries will update once they arrive.
Fitted the grill last night and went to a local meet, although being typical me didn't get a picture of it parked up, not sure if anybody else did tho...
Quick pic when I got home how I'm currently running...

Really happy with it, looks smart just need to tidy up the rest of the bay anybody got any recommendations for what to use to clean it and to make the hoses look all shiny and nice?
-
Looks fantastic. How much did the rns unit set
You back and where did you get it from?
-
I managed to get it of eBay for a bargain. Cost me about £200 but is the DAB model.
Probably the best thing I've done to the car makes the inside loads nicer and so much better than the rcd300 I had.
RNS500 would have been nice but there like double or more :(
-
Hi Rick,
Car looks great :congrats:
I'm over in Saxilby, we will have to arrange a meet sometime!
Carlo.
-
Thanks!
Ah someone local! Yeah will do! Not sure if you know but there was bomber country dubs meet last Wednesday at woodcocks that I went to, turn out was a fair few I think because of the weather being nice.
Not sure when next one is tho!
-
Looks smart in the pictures
-
Not done much to this due to work, and having a stag doo then wedding to asttend aswell as family stuff.
Had the day off on monday so decided to give it a wash, and while cleaning the wheels noticed this..
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fb8%2Frik_arris%2F774A766F-8DEF-4BD6-9DED-4BF9277DEC52-18168-00000B1D9D5884A4_zps67ca9040.jpg&hash=79ec696a0b69f8a984c60dddbdecc0b7a47e89a4)
So i told myself that id just leave it as didnt have time to play but 15 minutes later i had the jack out and had it in the air, found out they are AK Coilovers, and there pretty much brand new! got the fronts wound fully down, then had a slight issue of not having a big enough spanner at home to do rears so had to go down unit to get one, heres a pic of the rear with just a wipe..
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fb8%2Frik_arris%2F34901D2A-CE9F-44D5-B493-75DFFB6ED143-19176-00000BA2B8014245_zpscc9e91eb.jpg&hash=9ae968968faaa1379730c643e42b1490d6a6cae0)
And finally how its now sitting :)
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fb8%2Frik_arris%2F2512CC01-4D4E-448D-AFC1-7B269CCF77A2-1807-000000CB60EC0C3B_zpsaf5e8fd3.jpg&hash=f48d1c78afd5e4f8d18cc30c8921d4b801dfff46)
Unfortunately on Monday i also got pulled over for not having a front plate, luckily got away with just telling them i was on my way to re-attach it :)
Hopefully get a revo stage 1 map next month to make it abit more fun!
-
lovely looking motor mate, love the seats.. u had it mapped yet? any ideas who you will be having it mapped with?
-
Thanks yeah i love the seats :)
Nah it isnt mapped yet, and im unsure yet, i think ill be getting it revo'd but not sure where at yet, theres a local place or i may take it to ryan@garagemidnight.
-
nice photography and the car looks spot on :happy2:
-
Thanks not much to update on this, havent had time to do anything to it :(
Did fit this the other week..
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fb8%2Frik_arris%2F567B018A-FF7A-4B32-B7DD-0A0391422625-3853-000001D67B4999C6_zps53b7653b.jpg&hash=39e08587186e2a3c1489677c05c0380337011d31)
Was pretty easy just followed the guide on here and took me about a hour or so.
Had engine management light come on during week so took it back today, and turns out its the carbon canister so they ordered a new one and its going in on thursday.
Want to order up some new bulbs, am i right in thinking i need 4x h7 bulbs to do main and dipped beam?
Another thing i want to do is disable the seat belt alarm for passenger seat, as i put my bag on there and it keeps going off :(
-
Lovely :happy2:
-
Only a small update got these buttons fitted Friday.
Took literally 15 minutes now I know how to remove the air bag..
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fb8%2Frik_arris%2FFCA0245B-FE53-4FA5-BF23-982C86E94FB8-21125-00000BC73A001FA9_zpsee60245f.jpg&hash=607cf91d6957d2d63cbd2689527e03007f5a0148)
Hopefully have few more parts turn up this week and maybe get it washed at some proper photos of how it sits now its been lowered.
-
Looking good mate, AP coilovers, same as I have fitted to mine. Good quality and ride with them I find.
Si
-
very nice right result on the coilovers and as for those seats they look incred :happy2:
-
Thanks for the comments.
Been doing little bits to this recently mostly OEM Stuff.
Did the boot pop mod the other day which im pleased with, also fitted interior led lights which make the world of difference.

Currently saving for new wheels :) unless i book a remap in first!
-
Smart!
-
Well haven't done much on this recently. Been trying to find some big brakes and get a stage 1 map but hasn't happened yet.
Went to players today and on way back, my brother took a few pictures of it how it currently sits. Desperately need wheels but going to try find some over winter for next year so may space out the standards for now.

Also just bought a highline dash, bit of a impulse buy so i now need to make sure its correct for my car its the 974 ones.
Need to find somewhere to install them, but i believe shark performance do it and are only 30 odd miles from me? anyone know a rough cost?
Rick
-
Looks good you going to stick with a motorsports alloy?
-
Looks pretty cool on the current wheels!
-
Well haven't done much on this recently. Been trying to find some big brakes and get a stage 1 map but hasn't happened yet.
Yes Arris, I have 8 pots for sale and I'll be over at Shark weds, why not come and get the map done :driver:
-
pretty sure I liked a picture very similar to one of the above on instagram lol so clean and tidy very nice .
-
I like where this is going, smart touches fella :happy2:
Always fancied a shorter plate - Are you likely to get hassle from the authorities over it?
-
Thanks for all the comments.
Regards to the plate, i ran it on my old car for about a year never had any issue, but its fully legal as i cut it down myself and followed the rules as to what size the boarder should be, think its like 12mm or so.
Not sure on wheels, would like some bentley splits, but may buy some Team Dynamic pro race 1.2's for winter unsure yet.
Id love 8 pots but my pockets aint deep enough :sad1:
-
Well not much happened to this recently, with work/drinking and GTA taking over my life the cars been neglected...
Although these did turn up...

So started splitting them down for a refurb...

Turns out they just went in the golf to get tyres removed. Unfortunately the fronts were shot, rears are good but are 265 so don't think I'll run them!
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fb8%2Frik_arris%2F1EE878B8-93F7-401E-8312-14203B73EEB8-5547-000003D8C8586D88_zpsed3cc8f9.jpg&hash=67c1702b5926cb0a720e025f0d593b6e30bfb557)
Got both front bolt less and center less just need to split the dishes I did read heating the wheel up helps but they didn't fit in the oven :(
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fb8%2Frik_arris%2F8E66485C-05B2-4460-A287-7C7CF3CAC7D1-5547-000003D8DF408137_zpscd88f81f.jpg&hash=0eb9b32389f3df970eb4897c7a7cc7b9d94f1aa5)
So hopefully when I can find time where I'm not playing online GTA I'll get them split and find somewhere to powder coat them.
Anyone recommend anywhere near Lincoln? That isn't ultimate finish as I don't trust them.
Also have a DAB aerial sat at home to fit but haven't got round to it yet.
Rick
-
Lovely wheels mate, one of my all time favourites :happy2:
Refurb? Red centres, gold bolts
-
I think I'm going to go for white centers with gold bolts and silver barrels :happy2:
Just finding the effort to get them split, still need to find a set of 15mm adaptors and best place to buy new bolts if anyone knows of anywhere good?
-
Well this happened today

Took me and my brother 2 days on the drive way to get it fitted.
Slight leak on one bag and the boot needs a false floor but to say im happy is a understatement :jumping:
Was about half 5 when we finished tonight so will get my brother to take proper photos tomorrow
-
Liking the shortened plate mod, what have you used to do it? really need to do it myself as i have a short private plate and have just put it on the standard mount which looks crap :signLOL:

... Completely ignored the fact it's now on air :congrats:
But anyway dude looks amazing.. As I said on Instagram need to see more!!!
-
Haha :signLOL:
Well here as promised some proper pictures!
Sits a little uneven currently as it needs a chassis notch, but that is on the cards..

Pretty happy with how it sits but will get front notched to get it that bit better :)
-
Looks great!
I didn't get mine notched straight away but after a while it gets more noticeable and annoying!
-
Yeah, I'm just trying to find somewhere local ish to get it done.
Know of one place but they can't do it till mid December
-
This looks great! Kinda makes me want a red gti now :)
Did you have much problems when installing the air? Also what kit did you use? Once i get my golf, i think i know what bags i'll be using!
-
Yeah, I'm just trying to find somewhere local ish to get it done.
Know of one place but they can't do it till mid December
Where're you based?
-
I'm running airlift autopilot v2
Nah not really any issues, biggest problem I had was removing the front struts.
But considering neither of us that installed it are mechanics and we had a basic tool kit and a jack we did well I think doing it outside on the drive.
And I'm based in Lincoln :happy2:
-
Ahhh bit far then mate
I'm in Hampshire and there's a place down here that does it.
-
Looks great mate, and fair play for DIY drive install :happy2:
Autopilot V2 a great bit of kit, where did you get from? UK or USA?
Any pics of boot install?
Si
-
Yeah really impressed with the kit.
It's really nice well made and put together even the loom is really nice.
I bought from Car Audio Security. Can't recommend them enough helpful when I rang up to order.
Slight delay getting it, but was there delivery that was delayed spoke to another airlift dealer today and seems
They had been waiting a few weeks due to everyone at airlift going to seema.
No pics of boot install I have a few but it's not pretty currently as it's all mounted but needs carpeting and a false floor making.
-
X2 on good service at car audio security
-
Ah nice! Yeah I'm planning on getting the autopilot V2. Everyone I've spoke to who has it, loves it!
You running the airlift performance struts and their double bellow rear bags?
That's exactly how I bagged my corsa! Was a fun project. Hopefully the golf will be a good project too!
-
I'm running the slam struts, not the posh threaded bodied ones.
Yeah was a busy two days fitting it, look forward to going back to work tomorrow for a rest.
Pleased I've done it myself as know how it all works etc, and always been one to try do things myself.
-
You need to get your new wheels on sharpish ...will look insane! :ashamed:
-
Yeah wheels are currently scattered around my house.
One is currently being used as a clock :signLOL:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fb8%2Frik_arris%2F940F7338-715C-4523-93C7-95FA412F732F_zpsbi7lawx9.jpg&hash=e4647d963fd985bfaf2252390627719d19b0722b)
Thought once I had air on I'd be happy. But I'm trying to figure out what brakes I can fit behind these :)
Think I'm going to have to go for the boxter front calipers. As don't think 6 pots will fit :(
-
Well haven't done much with this recently cept air it out everywhere i go :signLOL:
Dropped my barrels and faces of at the painters on friday, to be painted.
And hopefully one day next week ill drop my dishes of to be polished, and need to order up the new bolts and nuts. Then figure out tyres.
Also got some adaptors on the way but there 25mm so maybe abit too much :scared:
Now have two AVS water traps and some pipe to give hardlines ago for my install.
Got home tonight about half 9 and decided to rip the boot out..
So was left out aired with this in boot...
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fb8%2Frik_arris%2FBBE1CEF9-16DD-4596-9E74-6AB9A82346F3_zps3qbuobhp.jpg&hash=47b4410602abd3461bacab1841c7216a76875555)
Removed compressors and tank and started carpeting the bottom piece.. and mounted the compressors back on..
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fb8%2Frik_arris%2F28F0FB8A-06F6-47C1-A263-A127738ED8CF_zpsskbfyhbf.jpg&hash=6fb697e867c9b6355b36308873aa8e096b055b45)
Tomorrow ill hopefully paint the tank re-fit that, and get some sound deadening installed in the spare wheel well...
Also made a start on my false floor. Its nearly there but few bits im not happy about, still have to cut out the window for perspex also.. but trying to figure out how i can make it so i can access my water traps i now have.

Ah leaking air, I don't miss those days
-
Well, recently been working on my install. Pretty much done now...
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fb8%2Frik_arris%2F2521FBC1-0BBD-49A4-BCC1-9F85F627F5D1_zpsoj6zuc8j.jpg&hash=3e3d941fa24f31969acf538f072da1a045cdcfa7)
Still need a notch as soon as I can get it booked in.
Also my wheels have been painted and dishes polished, so just waiting to get them back, and built up :)
-
Nice!
-
Well got my my barrels and centres back today from the paint shop!
Could resist quickly building a couple up and test fitting one!
25mm adaptors are way to much so will get hold of some 15mm ones :)

Got a few more bits to order for them some 28mm BBS valves, some Carbon Collective sealant 15mm adaptors and then tyres so slowly getting there!
-
Wheels look very nice, will look so different when all on and tyred up :happy2:
-
Not a huge fan of super low rides but your car looks amazing! Front license plates suck on mk5 but i've been pulled over for not having them as well so gotta live with it now. Lucky Americans.
Did you retrofit halogen headlights over the stock xenons? It looks like you've got the headlight washers.
-
Cheers for comments.
Yeah front plate is a nightmare, although mine is stuck on with magnets, but i also have the shortened plinth i have cut down and plastic welded that is all magnetised up yet, but just needs a top coat of paint as im being picky. But i also got pulled when i didnt run a plate.
Luckily was the day i had the plate in the window, for about 4 weeks i ran with a red and white pressed plate in the window think i got away with it as first glance looked like a trade palte :signLOL:
Need to really pull my finger out on this to have it sat on the wheels for UD
Also no it came with the standard halogen lights, but has winter pack fitted which include the headlight washers, although tbh i hate them as just make a mess :happy2:
-
Well got home this afternoon from a weekend away and was still light, and it wasn't raining for once, so i test fitted my front wheel now i have smaller spacers.
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fb8%2Frik_arris%2F31852960-22B9-492F-BE27-8564ADCEE402_zpsbuz2hfvq.jpg&hash=a5cc1c41d6555552f2a6f17534f8b6d5587710e0)
Sitting nearly flush, so im abit stuck on what to do, really i wanted more tuck, but i may buy even more spacers some 20mm to try see if i can get it sitting on lip.
If not ill swap back to 15mm and look at getting my arches flared as they need paint anyway, or possibly the flachwerks +25mm wings.
Only other issue i have is i need shorter wheel bolts anyone know where i can get these from, and also is there such a thing as nice looking ones that wont ruin the look of my wheels haha!
-
Tuk on the front sit rim on the rear...
Be carful of your lips on the front as mine just to tuck but slightly catch on the inside.
Great wheels btw. Regret selling my twists.
-
Yeah, thats how i really want it, to be fair my front arches are abit of a mess, but don't wanna get any work done till i have wheels all sorted so they can work the arches to accommodate them.
-
Yeah fair enough. Look forward to seeing these fitted.
-
Looking good dude! Should be good for UD.. .
-
Cheers Tim.
Yeah hopefully, got a month left, hopefully going to really try get as much as I can done for UD although paint will have to come after.
Still got a list of jobs I wanna do but it's finding time. Luckily I have a months working away well mon-Friday coming up end of month, so that overtime should help sort my wings out next month!
Gonna man up and order tyres this week. Just need to seal the wheels and find somewhere to fit tyres.
-
Wow.
This looks mega, great work so far.
Where have you mounted the controlled for the air ride?
-
Cheers.
Currently the controller is just in the ash tray, really want to make a holder for it, just haven't got round to it.
Front tyres turned up yesterday so there currently being fitted, just a shame the rears ain't arrived :(
Done half the skyline tail light mod now. Passenger side is done, but dropped my driver side light and cracked it so need a new one :(
-
Got my front tyres fitted yesterday as rears havent turned up.
One of reasons is because its awkward getting 4 wheels and 4 tyres in the golf safely, so hopefully get rear tyres this week and fitted next weekend.
Have new bolts on order also.
Quick photo from a local meet today..

:notworthy:
Beautiful.
-
This is tooo much!!
-
Thanks lads.
been a while getting wheels on, and not much more will happen for a month or so now, as ive spent loads on it past few months.
And work is going to get busy, so hopefully after UD i can get my front arches done as there not in a very good state, but wanted the wheels on before getting them sorted.
-
Stunning :congrats:
-
Saw this on your Instagram before, the wheels really finish it off! :happy2:
-
Cheers guys, yeah im over the moon with how the wheels look.
Pretty happy all round as it was only UD last year i decided i wanted a mk5 on air on porsche twists.
Never thought id make it happen :signLOL:
Finished this off yesterday also..

Pleased with it, god knows why VW didnt do this from factory!
-
Looks great bro :happy2:
-
Lights looking good mate, how did you do that?
Si
-
Followed the guide on here, fit halo rings in the inners,
You have to split the lights and run the power from the number plate lights, but i think totally worth it.
-
Cool, do you have a link to the guide you followed?
Si
-
Only a small update got these buttons fitted Friday.
Took literally 15 minutes now I know how to remove the air bag..

Hopefully have few more parts turn up this week and maybe get it washed at some proper photos of how it sits now its been lowered.
well hows things, where did u buy the buttons and did it cost much and is there a write up on how to do it and get them fittted right
-
I'll link you to the guide I saw for the lights when I'm on computer later.
I didn't read a guide for the buttons as already knew how to remove the air bag and there just screwed in.
Bear in mind you can only swap them on DSG wheels. Manual wheels you need to replace the whole wheel.
-
are you sure?i have the exact same wheel? are they plug and play ?

Got a stack of jobs to do before Early Edition tho i did manage to pick up a set of porsche caps for the engine bay yesterday so one job down.
-
Nailed it :driver: looked great yesterday!
Get a chassis notch
-
Now this. Looks sick! Whats the spec on your wheels!
-
This looked proper awesome yesterday, probably one of my favourite mk5s of the day!! :happy2:
-
Thanks lads, really was stoked by the amount of people paying it attention yesterday :ashamed:
Wheels are 8 and 9.5's don't know the et's of hand but sit exactly how i wanted tuck up front poke out back :jumping:
Yeah george i need to book it in just haven't had time been working away monday-friday for past month and leaving at 5am so not had time to get it booked in/dropped off.
Anyone recommend somewhere local to Lincoln or not too far that could do it?
-
Tuk customs are in Northampton and he done a great job on mine. I don't know anywhere near Lincoln.
-
It take them long?
Its like 100 miles from me so to go drop it off and then pick it up again would be alot of effort for something pretty simple ha.
-
He could probably have it done in a few hours. I'll pm you His number. He done all my paint as well.
-

-
Love that shot!
First time I've ever seen it on move :happy2:
Once I've had my arches done hopefully be able to roll abit lower on motorways and such!
Started buying parts already and set up a new count down for Early Edition!
-
Early edition is always a good one :)
-
Ah not been to Early Edition before and only did the sunday at edition last year but may camp this year not sure yet.
Started a count down today for EE so hopefully spur me on to get jobs done in time.
Another picture ive found of the motor..
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fb8%2Frik_arris%2F1909389_969741355618_584300107_o-1_zpsd03bec20.jpg&hash=3eaa224d49d26cc6b98d48b399ac577a0b4ed639)
Im hoping i find a decent one of my install so far only seen a couple of IG but there crap quality.
-
Lookin good :happy2:
-
Well got home last night and cracked on with some jobs for Early Edition.
Unfortunatly for me the previous owner left this mess under the sound deadening, 2 and half hours later and sore thumbs they were all gone..
Before
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fb8%2Frik_arris%2FA40284A2-615D-4788-864C-E6E795AE84B4_zpshh4lukzf.jpg&hash=58bec9dd85988e3e45ed8b5a8eabf18e6b8c1b07)
After

Also picked up a pair of Porsche Oil Cap and coolant caps on sunday, but the oil doesnt fit as i dont have a oil filler neck. So think i may have to file it down to make the radius smaller.
Today i suddenly realised my MOT ran out on monday, but still had half my front Anti Roll bar fitted so set about removing it, which was a right pain.
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fb8%2Frik_arris%2FDBA0C475-153B-4777-82B4-06FADCAB6F2B_zpstvzqu952.jpg&hash=d39f06731c2bd4ed9f6d73759d0d7bd038c251fe)
Took abit of cutting up but came out eventually..
Luckily it flew through a MOT only had advisory for a upper level rear braking light tho got one arriving at TPS in morning and a tyre bead being something.
Also found some foam and made this today, need a better solution but will do for now..
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fb8%2Frik_arris%2FF11D4ACC-2E7D-4B5D-8C73-F22B798ED582_zpsi0h8cnkf.jpg&hash=fd361671e300bb9f0664cb23e7d9dbd6243f0f2f)
Also cleaned one of the wheels, this was sprayed with shampoo/water mix and wiped down with a micro fibre, thats it.
The Carbon Collective Platinum Wheels i sealed them with really does work well...
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fb8%2Frik_arris%2F80EF7C3A-231E-4ACB-9F32-101F498AFEF9_zpsbhx5iqcr.jpg&hash=a59a297945db5171e9faa6d9fc378e1d5dcf3c58)
Also a few random shots ive found from UD
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fb8%2Frik_arris%2F4D1E7BDC-24FC-488D-BF06-C6DD5F1F2FB4_zps1anwb7ds.jpg&hash=2dcf3021c41119e05b8933777adf5a3ad90a66db)
Excuse the lack of fitment this is my high side :ashamed:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fb8%2Frik_arris%2F0C71BACF-1D1B-4187-811F-9C4DD6CFD379_zpsgbfyqhny.jpg&hash=705320aefebd4cdc63cd9cc3b9aa6f583a9764fe)
Hopefully have a black filler cap turn up from AKS soon and a wiper delete from germany to do.
Also going to start looking at hard piping my install.
-
Hi,
Here's the shot I got of your car; hope you like it. Apologies for the lens flare, i'm not too hot on post processing yet....

Nice photo man! :happy2:
Well picked up parts from TPS today, daunting taking a drill to the light lense but really easy job took me 15 minutes and now all working
Also fitted my new battery cover as tabs of mine had broken.
Just unsure what to do with regards to my porsche oil cap think i may have a go at filing it down so it fits.
-
Sweet Mk5!! Xenons would top this off! :happy2:

Was this for the quad lights? Which way did you drill the insides to hold the ring in place? Chrome side outwards or from the back of the light into the chrome?
-
Beautiful. Get that notch done
-
Great wheel choice! Big fan :happy2:

Beautiful. Get that notch done
+1
Bit late but thought i'd already commented saying this looked MEGA at UD! Got papped by plenty of people too from what i've seen trawling through galleries!
The twist splits 17"'s?
I've got my V2 controller fabricated in like so....
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fz324%2Fdeago011%2FD5C543E4-59F4-48AA-B7F7-404625F4FE10_zpsgpda0rxf.jpg&hash=de973ca1cffec918b517b76f2e3b4372b0ce2953)
Works pretty well
:happy2: as always keep up the good stuff!
-
Well I had Friday off to go get quotes for paint and notch but the MOT situation screwed that up.
The twists are 18"
Ah that's perfect just what I want is that just a panel covered or a block?
Really need to look into it more and get something bit nicer.
Hopefully my wiper delete turns up this week and my wiper isn't too hard to remove!
-
Looking Awesome mate :congrats: :congrats: :congrats:
Love the splits  :notworthy:
-
My wiper had seized itself on. Battled with it for about 45mins before I got the hacksaw out! :signLOL:
-
I find there is a bit of a trick to getting the wipers off.
It's like a pivot motion just using your right hand.
It's hard to explain. :ashamed:
You have to push and pull at the same time.
I'll explain further if needed :happy2:

just a block that's been alcantara'd. i opted for the keep my 12v option rather than have the whole lot flush for charging phone and stuff
-
lovely car car, some really nice work you've done here :congrats:
-
Thanks for comments.
Still got a long way to go tho had bad thoughts of selling it :surprised:
Yeah I'll probably end up hack sawing the wiper off as in past I've never succeeded in removing rear wipers without.
Did you make the v2 holder or have it done by a company?
Monte as your local recommend anywhere to have my chassis notch done?
-
I bought one of these to get my wiper off! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190895377146?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190895377146?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649)
You can get cheaper ones though. It was actually a really useful tool :happy2:
-
This is unreal, love it! :drinking:
A set of xenons, and this would be my perfect mk5.
Props to you sir. :notworthy:
-
Well it was made by studio in car when they did my whole install. but i cant imagine it would be very difficult to make, just make a template, and wrap it in some decent durable material.
-
Woah! I need these wheels
-
Ha thanks!
Yeah was my dream wheels. I was lucky to find a set, although the cost with refurbing etc got abit out of hand. But think it pays off.
Also for who don't follow me on Instagram...
Got this email earlier this week...
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fb8%2Frik_arris%2F8B0DCB2C-BA23-4332-BFA8-0DA65B1F190F_zpsvgpxmcto.jpg&hash=d4470bd5dbaf1e1c46f5f29003ea44bda086f312)
Well happy about this as already had a hotel booked so makes the 200 mile each way even more worth it! As when I booked my hotel was before I had air or the wheels I think :signLOL:
-
:driver: :driver:
-
Rims look nice, I want a set for my jetta.
How wide are they? Do I dare ask how much they stand you at ? Lol
-
Cheers wheels are 8j front and 9.5j rear, tho i cant remember what off sets are.
Booked in on the 5th of next month for a notch at Only Charged Dubs.
Also been trying to book it in for a front end re-spray but looks like it will be the week after Early Edition as ive left it too late now as usual! :signLOL:
Removed my rear wiper saturday morning and fitted one of them german glass blanks real nice piece of kit that fitted well.
Also have my black washer cap fitted to engine bay but didnt get any decent photos and rest of weekend i was feeling ill so didnt get anything done :scared:
-
Took a trip up to see Matt @ Only Charged Dubs yesterday and finally got it notched

So happy with how it sits now.
Also have a few more parts acquired but won't be on until Players now. But i do have a US spec grill that will be on for Early Edition :)
-
-
I don't think it's low enough :P
-
Looks absolutely mental mate! :D
-
Ha blame the ground for it not being low enough!
Starter on sorting my new brakes out today but it started raining :(
Still need to order up pads/discs/fluid anyways so won't be on in time for Early Edition.
-
Looks awesome pal, Xenon's would complete this! :happy2:
-
Yeah, missing Xenons Arris
-
Yeah I'd love xenons just finding some for a good price is hard.
I now have brakes tho  just need new discs and pads
One thing at a time lads I'm broke currently
Fitted the US spec front grill this morning but no decent pics yet.
-
S3 brakes?
-
One of the lads at work took a pic the other day when it was outside, asked me this morning if I knew who's it was. Looking very tidy
-
Nah regarding brakes it had to keep with the theme so just some small porsche 4 pots as was worried about clearance and don't want to loose my tuck.
Cheers Andy!
Hopefully get it booked in with Matt @ Ultimate Car Care in next week or two for a front end respray as it's bad :sad1:
Big list of jobs to complete for Players and a cheeky pic from yesterday of the team

Not really done much recently as been bait fed up of spending all my time on it,
Hopefully pull my finger out in next few weeks with run up to players :fighting:
-
Well cars gone in for paint now.
Will be picking it up Thursday night before leaving for players on the Friday morning.
Busy over weekend changing a few things on it, nothing major just fine little details that most people won't even notice.
This was it's current state
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fb8%2Frik_arris%2F10E43F0B-ACB2-4AA5-B35F-59238FF7F9AD_zpsogtpmzkk.jpg&hash=429e50fed757f0b56ec42513ecb12b238cefbc8c)
So still got wheels to swap back for players :)
-
Looks so nice on the stock wheels, please post up all the little details, it's all in the detail my friend :innocent:
-
Cheers yeah do like standard wheels just not cleaning them :(
Have to wait now till players as I won't have the car back till then.
But it involves brakes and my install has changed a little :happy2:
Also rebuilding my splits at the weekend which I'm not happy about but it needs doing as my gold bolts have started to rust already.
So trying gold plated stainless ones this time
-
Awesome!
-
Nice one man :happy2:
-
Looking good! :happy2:
-
Criminal fitment
-
Looks great mate top effort. :congrats:

Awesome work fella :happy2:

Well i don't really update this much, but most progress is on my InstaGram rick__rolled
Anyways got to mid february and i thought i best start getting this thing sorted for this season.
So i got my wheels re-built, sent it off and got SA motorsport to build a cage, then i had one weekend to build a false floor and get my twin tank set up installed with hard lines and running before i dropped it off with Adi & Monty at deep shine for them to do there magic.
I then picked my wheels up and dropped them off with the boys at deep shine on the friday dinner and collected it friday evening before leaving saturday morning for UD.

While i was at UD i had already dropped some seats of at Lavish Automotive to be trimmed, unfortunately with time restraints they wasn't in on time but are in now. And to say they was worth the wait is a understatement the class of work is second to none...
