Looks like I have a tear in my offside CV boot, I think I have got it early so I'm going to try a little rubber weld repair to see if it stops spitting out grease.
However, I think in all likelihood it's going to need a new CV, as by all accounts it seems easier to swap out than use a boot kit to repair.
Soo, to my question, does anyone know how much the OEM ones are? I've seen a pattern part on eBay for £60 delivered, that includes the inner and outer! :surprised: Comes with a 2 year warranty too, are these any good?: link (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-GOLF-MK5-2-0-GTi-DRIVESHAFT-CV-JOINTS-OFF-SIDE-2005-ONWARDS-/130776899648?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1e72e92040)

From what I've read it's better to buy oem. I think others tend to be brittle and do not last as long.
I'm not 100% sure though.

OEM... not worth risking is with a high stress component such as a CV

Sounds sensible... Anyone have a P/N and cost?
-
Can't help with P/N but my Indy fitted a new OEM one for £100 on mine.

That's a good price. Did they break down the part cost with that?
Think when / if mine starts clicking I'll get some quotes, did they use a new hub bolt too? As I hear you shouldn't reuse the original one.
I'm a bit of a glutton for punishment and will no doubt try it myself. :signLOL:

Sorry, can't find the invoice, but I seem to remember that the bolt got changed as well yes.
Good luck with that :notworthy:
