Surely Unired fans would want Mourinho or Klopp if Mourinho hell bent on going back to Chelski...
I hope Moyes goes there, he is a good manager but not as good as Mourinho...
-
AF retires. I didn't see that one coming!
I'm not a United fan but I highly rate Moyes and he's a good fit for them. Yes, he's not really got any proven track record in the big time but he will only get that with a chance.
The "Special One" is too in love with himself for anyone other than Chelski IMHO, as good as he is I can't see him being a United style Manager.
-
I really like Moyes and he does deserve a chance to manage a bigger club BUT does he have the mental ability to follow in the footsteps of fergie. That is a huge ask for anyone. I think that mourinho does have the mental ability to step into fergies footsteps and would probably be the safer choice.
I'm not in any way a Utd fan, far from it, however I am absolutely shocked and still can't believe he is retiring. I was sure he would die before he stepped down! The premier league will be poorer without him in charge, playing his mind games with other managers. I feel sorry for the next manager to follow in after fergie, that is a massive task!
-
Possibly Moyes (Rooney would leave), possibly Mourinho (Ronaldo would come with him) or maybe Klopp (he can bring lewandowski with him if he likes) :happy2:
-
Moyes ruins strikers A Johnson, Saha, Jelavic the list goes on and on

yeah strikers does seem to be a weakness of his.
the sky sports odds on moyes would make it seem he has the job - 1/12
-
The interesting thing is that David Moyes is one of very few managers with a similar style and approach as SAF. I think if you gave him a long stint at United (which no manager is likely to get in today's climate) he'd probably improve as a manager and he'd become acquainted with a bigger money squad, at a top club.
Whether they'd win any Champions Leagues or Domestic titles in that time is another question...
I think even if they appointed José, I doubt he'd be there for long and they'd be in the same situation two or three seasons later, irrespective of what they won.
-
I wouldn't want to be the first manager in at Old Trafford. Give it a few more seasons, when all the fuss has died down and it'll be a different story.
I'm not a fan of Fergie, nor United. But the man is a genius and what he has done for the EPL and English football as a whole is astonishing. I hate stating the obvious but they'll never replace him. :congrats:
-
Betting suspended on next Utd manager with Moyes as much as 1/50 on to replace fergie! Looks like Moyes is the next Utd manager then, good luck to him :happy2:
-
bill kenwright has all but said moyes is heading to utd....
he deserves a shot at the bigtime but doubt he will be a success
-
It will be announced today that Moyes is the new manager (worst kept secret in football).
As an Everton fan it's sh*t timing as we still have two important games left but the end of this season was in my opinion time for Moyes to leave, for the good of the club and him.
What worries me the most is who our bungling board have got lined up (if anyone yet), I reckon it'll be Martinez but Laudrup is quickly becoming the fans choice along with Di Matteo.
If it's someone like O'Neil or Megson I will never buy a season ticket again........

I see Mark Hughes is in the frame as well today, i'd seriously worry for your club if he took over :scared:
-
whats teh crack with rooney tho?
sruely he will want out if moyes arriveS?
-
Think he will do a good job plus fergie will be in the background whispering in his ear
-
Mark Hughes can shut his effing cake hole, I still haven't and never will forgive him for the way he conducted the Lescott transfer. Not good enough to cut the grass at Goodison the massive bell.

He'll be back at Everton in a swap deal for Baines....*taps nose*
-
 sweet :)
i stand corrected then mate - Ronney wont be affected by the Move of moyes haha !!
rooney put in a transfer request well before any mention of whiskey nose retiring and moyes taking over

won't happen, BK is working on putting a clause in place were moyes can't sign any of our players for 12-18 months
-
Just like swansea did with Joe Allen and Brendan Rogers !

Good old Bill.....for the love of the club!!!!!!
Baines or Felli away and it'll give the new bloke £30m plus to spend, so begrudgingly I'd say let one of em go even if it is to Utd.
-
felli should of gone last summer tbh
-
Baines is a good player, but do United need a left back, Evra has had played well for the last 3 seasons, fellaini not sure about, might be a tad disruptive.
We need a couple of decent wingers (Left and right) and/or an attacking midfielder, we can get them if we let Rooney go off to Germany/Chelski/France, if he does not want the attacking mid role (Which would suit him and what Fergie tried to get him into), with RVP, Hernandez we have our 2 up front, Ronaldo might come back to united, who knows.
-
Well, it's now confirmed that Moyes is at United on a 6 year deal.
-
6 year deal.
Wow.
-
I'm a big Everton fan and Although gutted to see him go I think he deserves his chance at Utd and will do well.
Everton fans best wishes will go with him.
-
Good luck to him, definately deserves his chance and hope it all works out for him :happy2:
Question is who will replace Moyes now, thats a pretty big job to fill as well. Not sure if there is someone who could work with the budget he had and do as well.

i'll be giving my season ticket up if any of this list end up in charge: martinez, lennon, o'neil, aladyce, coyle, hughes, and there are more
i would be happy with laudrup

Don't blame you at all, i wouldn't want any of those in charge if i was a toffee either. Certainly not hughes or o'neil!

Happy its been confirmed, Moyes can do well on a shoe string budget, wonder what he can do with 60m?.
I will be supporting him for the long term, if we do not win anything for a year or 2 it's no great loss as long as he starts winning in a few years :happy2:
As long as he gets the players on side (Which should be easy enough as he was personally recommended by fergie) he should do fine.

thats the right attitude but i cant see many united fans concurring with that really, they will want the title next year as its almost expected.
time will tell. is phil neville going to be his assistant?

steve round is rumoured to be following moyes to OT, there are also rumours going around about neville and staying at everton in some kind of role

Would be difficult to do that though surely. Moyes no longer has a contract at Everton after this season.
-

I think Laudrup has a successful managerial career ahead of him, a very wise bloke. If I was an Everton fan I'd be rooting for his appointment.
I reckon one day he'll be at Arsenal, just got that feeling...
Baines is a good player, but do United need a left back, Evra has had played well for the last 3 seasons, fellaini not sure about, might be a tad disruptive.

All the Man United fans I know agree Evra is too hot and cold, doesn't show defensive awareness consistently plus his attitude & discipline has sometimes been in question.
Baines and Fellaini would be very good signings for United IMO!
-
Amongst most of my (United supporting) mates we all rate Evra, seems to get better every year.
Most of my mates are long term supporters (all being in the 30-45 age range) so 1-2 years winning nothing is no great bones (As long as its Chelski and not City or Arsenal winning :happy2:)
Baines would be a good signing, don't get me wrong, but he would likely be sharing pitch time, problem is with RB/CB they are either good at going forward or defending, not usually both
Fellaini, totally unsure about him, Fergie had a habit of removing unruly players from his squads, not sure that would go down to well.
Ronaldo in, Rooney out, would go for that, as others have said Rooney has not been at his best for 12-18 months, only 2 years left on his contract, sell him now and spend wisely.
-
Interesting. I hear a lot of "Evra was asleep for that goal" comments. Going forward, he's decent though - goes forward more confidently than Valencia most of the time! Don't know how (injury aside) he's progressed from an explosive, exciting winger into a confidence lacking right back over the last two seasons...
Fellaini is controversial no doubt, he won't keep a squeaky clean record with referees as we know - but isn't he the central midfielder United have been crying out for over the last few seasons? I felt if you'd of signed a Rafael VDV or Wes Sneijder (wages aside, they were both had for good money!) you wouldn't have needed Scholesy' to come back and sit alongside Carrick?
So, Fellaini could offer something there.
Serious question - who'll take Rooney? Massive wage demands, off pitch baggage, needs constant ego management and arguably past his absolute best?
-
I was slightly in shock yesterday. But I guess it was coming although expected it to be next year.

Yes United fans are in the habit of winning silverware but I'm sure, like Tamiyoman and myself, united fans understood that the day that Fergie retired it would be a massive loss and we have to accept that we might not win anything for the next few years, as united rebuild/readjust under new management.
But will be interesting to see what Moyes can do :happy2:

Got that for you!

if mourinho goes chelsea can see thenm winning title for next few years, city dont really seem to gel under mancini but if he goes suppose they could be a real threat over coming years..
