Title: boot pop, bang!!
Post by: biffobear on May 09, 2013, 05:24:09 pm
hi,I carried out the boot pop mod about 6 months ago, yesterday I pressed the remote to open the boot, and as usual it flew open then crashed down again, one of the plastic ends that connect to the ball ends had shattered, I braced myself for damage, but luckily there was none. Anyone else had this experience.

I've heard the struts used to get the boot to pop get a bit lively in the hotter weather. Might have been that?

They are a lot more powerful in warmer weather but I'm sure they are damped as they get to the end of their stroke to stop it flying all the way open. Maybe a dodgy strut that's lost its damping.

when operating ok they would take your head off if you got too close, its probably going up so fast that the plastic ends could not take the strain anymore.

Boot pop mod.

Struggles in the winter months and to fast in the summer.

Do I still want to do this?

As I've stated before, this sounds like a horrible mod.
