Title: Side light error?
Post by: GtiMaxi on May 09, 2013, 06:56:59 pm
New to this whole thing, still not got my car on the road! 05 plate.

Tried changing the side light bulbs from standard dull to a white one, the light stays on for about 5 seconds then cuts out. Does the same every time I turn lights on. I asked a fellow technician and he wasnt sure what was up either..

Tried several sets of white 501's

Is this cambus related and is there a way round it?

Cheers

are you trying to change to LEDs? if so you need to put some form of resistor in as they draw less lower than a standard bulb so the car thinks it has blown, thus shutting out the power

some people opt to wiring in their own resistor but i took the easy option and bought pre made ones from ebay that you can just plug straight in

check there mate  :happy2:
