Can anyone recommend any cleaning products for a reflex silver gti? My GTI is due on Friday and I want to order a few things before it turns up!
I was looking at clearkote's vanilla moose and opti-seal from reviews, but can anyone recommend/post pictures of what they've used?
Cheers :happy2:

I use Super Resin Polish, white diamond glaze, jetseal 109, collinite 476.

I'm total newb to "detailing", but I was pretty impressed by the results I got on my silver Jetta with AutoGlym SRP, followed by the Chemical Guys XXX wax.
-
Hi,
If you do not have access to a polishing machine and your applying by hand AG SRP is excellent and very underrated. It needs to worked though.
On silver, finished with Chemical Guys Black light would give amazing results.

This might help if you haven't already spent your dosh:

I washed my car today - longest i've ever gone between washes since owning her, about 5 months i reckon whereas before i'd wash her every 3 weeks or less... :ashamed: anyhow she cleaned up nicely with 2 washes using the Megs mirror glaze shampoo and i've now started using Megs Ultimate quick wax as i don't have the time for using the Dodo Juice. Megs goes on easy as a spray, wipe down with microfibre and then buff with a buffing cloth. I'll post up some results.
-
Results (not the best shots as taken with iphone but you get the idea that they are quality products - beading shots to follow when it rains ) :

No such thing as a wonder product.
It's all in the technique... once you get past a point of cheap turtle-wax styley product you can use pretty much anything and it will look the same..
Decontaminate the paint, clay, polish/enhance, whatever, and seal.

This is the beading result from using the Megs quick wax:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg9.imageshack.us%2Fimg9%2F4854%2Fimg1783sz.jpg&hash=e343a7499c6e9ebc8144cdd2fca473d491df87eb)
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg823.imageshack.us%2Fimg823%2F5448%2Fimg1785fz.jpg&hash=abb9b072cbaad948ff3b1f0eff3ee51f22546a87)
Not as tight a beading pattern as i get with the dodo juice diamond white but with the dodo juice being a solid wax it takes about an hour to properly wax the whole of the car, using the Megs (liquid) quick wax it only took 25 mins - sometimes you want to just wax and go
PS these beading shots are taken 10 days after application (1 coat) - its rained probably on 4 of the 10 days possibly 5. Ideally i would have done a second run but i was starving and wanted to spend time with my son so i never made it back out for a 2nd coat. A 2nd coat could offer a tighter beading pattern and probably would increase durability. Still should last for another week or three. :happy2:

Note the laughing symbol after I posted it. :stupid:
Just for your information, I've tried more products then I care to remember, and have been so for many years on here, even before when I was a moderator on GolfGTi.co.uk
I'm not on commission , just had lots of tuition from people that are evolved in the detailing game, and I'm very good friends with someone that runs WWW.Detailingworld.co.(if you've heard of it?? :chicken:) .When I get told about products and what's best and better then others, I tend to listen and learn from his experiences...
This is a public forum, I can post what I like . Im not gonna change my honest thoughts and experiences like I will on this forum, people know me for giving my honest thoughts on.
Yes I will honour and promote when a decent product or service has been given to me, whether it would be remapping or detailing , and when I choose to write my thoughts on here to help others perhaps decide, then I will.

No, what's detailing world? :stupid:
I'm just saying that from my POV every time anyone posts anything car-cleaning related you just go on about Zaino - when personally I was not that impressed and certain products are genuinely not as good as some others. But from the impression you give it's like they are the be all and end all.
There is, from what I have found, no single range of products that do EVERYTHING well. To get the absolute best you have to mix and match products from various manufacturers/brands.
Reason I say this is because I was like you, just with the Auto Finesse brand, everything they did was amazing, I wanted their babies, etc, until I snapped out of it one day.
You are entitled to your opinion, just like bum-holes everyone has one (including me )
At the end of the day use what you like, it is no bother to me.

Anything Zaino, it will blow anything else out of the water .
Well after the past few days I've been putting Zaino Pro2 and the gloss enhancer to the test, have washed and detailed three cars, 2 in Zaino, my brothers silver 335i and my reflex silver Edition 30, and my mums silver Merc CLK320 cabriolet in Werkstatt acrylic kit...
All three were washed, tardis'd, clayed, enhancement polished with a DA and merzerna polish and pads, then wiped down and sealed with each product... Each product applied with a finishing(soft) pad with the DA on 2- slow speed...
I found the Zaino very thin, which made it hard to see where it's been laid, but this of course makes it easier to remove as its a thin coat, once removed the gloss enhancer quick detailed was very watery/thin which I found hard to spread polish off... The results were ok but after finishing the merc with the Werkstatt which I find an easier system to use, even the older paint came up glorious with the Werkstatt... And kinda left me wishing I used it on the other two...
Will see what the next wash is like for a gauge of longevity, and might give the edition another coat of the Zaino to give it a fair crack, but I would still say Werkstatt is my preference and gives me better results... It is amazing stuff...
-
I've been using zaino for a while on my dimond black ed30. For ease of use i think it's awesome. But after testing meg's new dark wax on my wing and comparing it to the zaino finish for me the wax was better. The zaino finish adds a glassy , mirror finish, but the meg's added more depth and gloss and one hell of a shine.
As for a reflex silver finish there are so many products available , people will say this is better or thats better, but at the end of the day , for me it's trial and error.
-
Which it was for me... But will revert back to my tried and tested Werkstatt Acrylic Kit
