Not specifically a mk5 question but thought I'd ask anyway. I have rear parking sensors fitted to my mk6 gti. They are quiet to the point where I find it difficult to hear them. Does anyone know where the dealer would fit the buzzer and how to get to it so I could move it? Any help would be great.

Mine is behind the N/S carpet boot trim, under the rear lamp housing.
I think it is only a small buzzer, so I guess you could check to see if it has got covered.
Or extend the wires and move it to a better place.
Or replace with a louder buzzer/sounder.

Mine is in the Black plastic bit at the side of the parcel shelf , on the passenger side.

How do you get to the plastic trim?

if they are factory then the volume can be adjusted with vcds
if it is a kit it should have different volume settings, so try and find out where they fitted it

Does anyone know if they were retro fitted by the dealer would the volume be able to be adjusted via vcds or is it only factory fitted?

I would imagine you can get access to it from underneath , inside the boot? I dont know if yours is in the same place as mine though.

Have a look on the sticker under the carpet in the boot. The codes on there should tell you everything the car left the factory with. If the code for parking sensors isn't on the list then they must be retrofit like mine.
Stick the codes in this web site to find out what they all mean.

I know mine aren't dealer fit as I believe on the dealer fit ones the volume can be adjusted via the radio and mine cannot. I'm hopefully going to have a look at the weekend to see what I can do. I'm hoping the volume can be increased because I don't see the point of parking sensors if you cannot hear them.
