Sorry for another vs thread but I've had a quick search and canit find the answer I'm looking for.
Anyways,
I've been looking for the right gti to pop up for sale now for month but lately I see edition 30s coming up in my budget and what I want to know is how the two car (standard gti and ed30) compare on the road. I know the eddy is up on power but is the 30horseys and tad more torque enough to make it noticeable faster over a normal gti, night and day ect?
Think I prefer the look of the normal gti but more grunt from the eddy if it is noticeable faster would be nice.
Just food for Thought really :happy2:
Thanks

The KO4 spools more slowly so the basic GTI is better.
-
Stop dithering, get an Eddy and be done with it!

:indifferent:
Sounds like envy to me! :booty:

If u plan on tuning the Ed30 would be the better option power wise
Resale values in future another to think about
-
If you plan on tuning, get the Eddy, as it will be quicker like for like.
That said, a well setup K03 is no slouch, my S1.5 K03 can pull on my mates standard K04 S3 once rolling, much to his annoyance (5k car vs 15k car), he still won't get it tuned though. :stupid:
-
I've owned both albeit it a mapped eddy and stock GTI. Still own the ko3 GTI. Eddy looks better imo, engine a lot mre tunable and sounds a bit better too. I'd go for the eddy

So a K04 GTI would be terrible... :sad1:

nope a mate of mine has one and the drive great and pull like a train so get it done

I found the normal GTI to have nice on tap power, good for traffic, nice and nippy. The ed30 I do notice the slower spool time but the top end is monstrous.
Overtaking wise the ed30 is very noticeably quicker in my view.

Having owned both THIS ^^^^^^^^^
Loved my GTI, but always secretly wished I got an Eddy. When I did, the pride I felt driving something a little rarer was priceless for me.
The trim looks a lot better, the engine is stronger and the residuals will always be better in my opinion.

It is done Matt :drinking: Agree that it is awesome :happy2:
Booked in at AKS for a diff and clutch upgrade to fully utilise Revo stage 3 shortly :driver:

You will love it then - will be every bit as good as the FRS you were thinking about buying
Then comes WMI

How does an R32 compare to these two cars?

Terrible for massive turbo lag anyway

PMSL...That line never wears thin!

Cheers for the input. So basically the ko3 spools quicker but runs out of puff in the higher rev range where the eddy takes longer to spool but has more power than the ko3 in the higher rev range ?
Or I could just get a r32 because as we all know they are the quickest by far
In two minds which gti to go for il have to have a think

Surely this comes down to your budget which is what? If you can afford a decent Edition 30 get one if not get a GTI both are good. Personally I would rather a nice GTI than a dog of an Edition 30.
-
I agree with above.
But surely, as the edition 30 is lower and has bigger brakes it must be able to go round the Nurburgring faster than say... A Megane Sport?

Personally given the budget I would go for an eddy.Has a more powerful turbo which can go up to 280ish BHP on a stage 1 remap and uprated internals on the engine. The normal gti is no slouch though it can still go upto 240-250 BHP
But make sure you get the right car from what I read while researching for the gti it can be hard to find a good quality eddy since you will need to be wary of write offs.
Whichever option you go for take your time with it and make sure YOU are 100% satisfied with what you buy. :happy2:

I have not read all of the thread but if budget would stretch I would get a Pirelli - same performance as ED30 but a genuine limited edition with greater residuals.
If cant find one get an ED30. Would prefer a K03 Gti to an R32 unless you absolutely love the soundtrack of the R32.
The KO4 spool is by no means slow, just slower than the KO3.
