We have recently purchased a candy white 5 door Gti. The colour is absolutely lovely and we are really pleased with it. However, I cant help thinking it doesnt look quite right with black side skirts and part black bumpers. Therefore I wanted to get them sprayed and also to ask you guys firstly, if anyone could recommend a good paint sprayer in the welling/bexleyheath area as I want to make sure the job is done properly and that the paint doesnt start to flake within weeks.
Also i've seen some members cars on the forum that have left the lower part of the rear bumper black and also the "lip" on the front bumper which I thought looks really good, so my next question is do you guys actually leave this part completely standard and unpainted or are these parts also painted black ?
Thanks in advance for any help you make be able to offer

Unfortunately there's always a chance of flaking as the plastic has to be smoothed then sprayed and the type of plastic it is isn't meant to be sprayed so there's always a chance.
The front lip is 2 parts on the standard gti so some leave it, have it all colour coded and wrapped black or sprayed black. The rear bumper is one piece but the same can be done as with the front.

Cheers mate thanks for the quick reply. Thats a shame about the flaking is there nothing that can be done to avoid it ? if not thats a shame because it does look excellent when its been done but I think it may be a pointless exercise it if doesnt last especially as I always try and make sure the car looks clean and in good condition. Cheers

You could always buy an Edition 30 rear valance. They were factory painted.

As mentioned above you could buy OEM Edition30 skirts, splitter and rear end and have them painted but you'll not get a lot of change from £1k when all is done and fitted.
My Edition30 with splitter and rear valance painted Gloss Black....

Or contact these peeps (below) as a few members on here have used them with great results. You purchase the part from them, they spray it in the colour of your choice and send it to you.

They also have a shop on eBay, I think the pic of the Tornado Red GTI is a car belonging to a member on here, brookesb32 (Simon). Pop him a PM and ask his advice.

Hope that helps! :happy2:

A grand :surprised: looksmintthough mate :happy2:
.
A decent bodyshop should be able to paint the existing parts, I would suggest taking them off and sanding them ready for the bodyshop to prep and paint. There's no reason the standard plastic should cause paint to flake, if its all done correctly. :happy2:

MC71 your car looks excellent and that is just how I wanted my bumpers to look, but in white obviously !!!
Thanks for the help. Just got to find a decent bodyshop now then.
Cheers guys

You can definitely have your original gti rear bumper sprayed without no problems. I got it done straight away and looked like this

Just had it removed because I've upgraded

Yeah Jonny I love that look of the colour coded bumper but leaving the lower part black. Thats just how I wanted to do mine. I'm just a bit concerned now cos i've read a few reports on forums that suggest the paint wont stay on for long. Hopefully a good bodyshop should be able to get around this problem.
By the way that exhaust set up looks fantastic mate

^^^^ If your bodyshop prep', prime and paint the textured surfaces correctly it should last for years with no problem at all.
:happy2:

£1k is about right, I had a votex splitter, R32 skirts and R32 rear done for mine and I didn't have much left, especially as I couldn't get a 5 door near side skirt so had to pay vw £283 for one...
As said if a decent body shop does it you should be fine for years but there's always gonna be a slightly higher chance of flaking. As MC said the pre painted body parts are good, alot of people have done the rear bumpers through the company above and had no problems.

I had mine on just over a year and did not have any signs of peeling, like MC71 said, as look as you find a reputable bodyshop, you won't see any peeling :happy2:

Really appreciate all the responses guys. Think i'm just going to go for it once I find the right spray shop. Photos to follow once the job is done and also once I work out how to post photos. Cheers
