Title: Headlight Tinting
Post by: matty_jetta on August 05, 2009, 09:04:53 pm
I am after adding a light tint to my headlights, has anyone done this?

I have looked at Lamin-x but for the size i need it works out quite expensive.

Came across this on ebay, looks pretty good stuff, just wondering if anyone has used it and knows what its like?

My concern is that it might be like perforated and then be a nightmare to clean/wax?

It looks good does that stuff. I'd be interested in knowing the same thing. Will it clean up nicely as they look a bit dull on the video.

well, hate to say it, but that ebay link says its both new and revolutionary...it so isnt  been around for years

i bought some a while back

didnt like it, took it straight off. thats just me.

you can buy the vinyl and cut it to shape for a couple of quid, thats all the ebayer has done using a template and then added their price tag.

i gave mine away apart from the postage cost, you can buy a roll for that money

[/sound advice]

Cherry, yours looks more like normal vinyl, is it?

This stuff looks like the stuff you see on taxi windows advertising, doesnt reduce light output and compaired to lamin-x its loads cheaper!

Think i might order some, its not really much money

DomT has it on his car, its too dark for my liking because with your side lights on, its hard to see that they are on.

Perhaps Dom might put a pic up or Pm him  :happy2:

Yeah they aint the cheapest but they are worth it IMHO, as I have xenons and it darkens my bling headlights. It also nice that they can be taken off easily too! :happy2:
Hope you find what you are after!

If u buy a set and see what you have actually spent the money on you will see why the price is a bit north of the mark. It's stretchy tinted film, rubber like- like a removable tax disk holder. Easy to fit easy to remove/steal.

Not slating it, if it floats your boat then go for it, but for what it is, it's all eBay smoke and mirrors for something very inexpensive

oh and there's the risk of xenon heat (if you have them) melting them too

I think I might risk it for the rear lights as the tints look nice on the tornado red and its cheaper than a set of R32 lights! Not sure about it on the front tho? Aren't your headlights supposed to illuminate stuff!
