Title: Knocking noise - not just subframe spacer issue!
Post by: AlexR on May 23, 2013, 06:25:20 pm
Hi folks, after some expertise if possible.

I have encountered the common 'clunk' noise when taking off/stopping sometimes. I'll hopefully sort that with the ECS spacer kit.

More importantly. Last week, there was another constant knocking noise. The noise comes about when I let off the accelerator or car is rolling in neutral. Approx 2000-3000rpm is at it's worst (sounds like something is knocking up and down off either the chassis or driveshaft or something!), and goes away instantly if I accelerate. Doesn't seem to occur under braking either. The noise is getting louder as the days go on.

Anyone experienced anything similar? Could it be engine/gearbox mounts?

Any help much appreciated as usual.

Cheers

Problem is developing now. Clunking in the same way when changing into 2nd! Will try fitting the spacers and see what's what from there.

Any other ideas folks?

Cheers
