Hi all, I've recently purchased a very nice MK5 GTI with 59k on the clock after having owned a MK4 20valve for the last 7 years and i'm really happy with it.
I would like to get a down pipe and a re-map but was unsure about what to do about the cat, I know MOT emissions are a problem so I thought maybe a sports cat.
The thing is I would like the car to sound powerful with a nice deep growl to it, does any1 know if this is possible with a sports cat or would it have to be a de-cat pipe? Thanks

I went for a 3" down pipe decat from eBay, has made the exhaust not much deeper even with standard exhaust but its not over loud just ideal.
I'm lucky to have a friendly mot tester though.

Hi bud thanks for the reply, I was looking at those myself as they are a very good price  is your car re-mapped also?

Yes went with a stage 2 map having only the downpipe and a twintake I made 264bhpon the rollers and 330ish lbs of torque.
You need a stage 2 map as they map out the second lambda, this prevents the CEL light coming on as it detects a fault having No cat

				Weclome on board.  :drinking:

Look into getting a TBE with 200 Cell (not 100) Sport Cat and you'll be good to go.  :happy2:
