VCDS scan a month ago showed the address 42 intermittent fault.
Unlocking with the fob is now intermittent. It sometimes opens first time, sometimes takes 2-3 presses on the fob. All other doors open fine first time. Also using the unlock button on the inside door card is intermittent.
However if I put the key in the lock barrel it opens the door no problem. Is the barrel lock mechanical and so not connected to the door lock control module?
I just want to see if there might be an issue with the fob or something before I go to the hassle and replace the door lock control module.
Thanks

Lock barrel is mechanical.
Sounds like a faulty door lock module. I have replaced two myself, seems to be a common problem. Easy job to do tbh, just take your time.

Thanks :happy2:
Reassuring to know it's mechanical so I won't be screwed when the module dies completely.
The module is quite pricey, but it can be fixed with a bit of effort and a soldering iron according to this guide:

if it fails completely and your door is closed.... its gonna be a biach to fix...

^^^If it fails completely I shall open it with the barrel lock which is mechanical, as discussed above. Unless Callis's assertion is incorrect?
