Title: The ring a forum trip
Post by: MAT ED30 on November 29, 2008, 09:32:37 pm: Ok guys after having a chat with a few people today who would be up for a trip to the ring next year around April/May/june time.
it cost me and my mate around Ã‚Â£400 for the weekend and thats petrol,ferry,dorint hotel but there are lots so much cheaper and will be booking a cheaper one and food,ring laps so not that bad. If you fancy it then just say as i would like to see who is up for it :happy2:

you can go around as many times as you like but you have to buy a lap ticket or buy a lap pass that has as many laps as you want on it ie you do a lap and get to the start again and put your ticket in the machine and go again :driver: but 1 lap is worth the trip and i did 4 laps when i was there and its fantastic.

I've been to Le Mans twice in the last few years and the Chunnel is a doddle. Never had to wait and on two occasions turned up early and they let us straight on :happy2:

Speedferries recently went bust... thus a hell of a lot of LeMan'ers that had booked onto there will now be switching to other ferries/tunnel.

We always tend to travel in the middle of the night so that can be quieter too :smiley:

not sure as i booked my hotel a month before i went :smiley: but would be good to have some kind of idea for about january

dont worry about that fella as i think most of them did but if not i know the dorint defo have easy access for wheelchairs and have a lift to each floor :happy2:

Post by: DJ on December 05, 2008, 11:48:47 am: Went March this year and we ended up camping the 1 weekend that it was baltic so later in the year the better I think. Definitely planning a trip with the GTI at some point next year.

Prefer to hire out cars to rag on the track though and potter round in mine!

The opening hours for 2009 probably won't be out until February, so you could gather a list of names but it might change once you have decided a date. You'll need to pick a date fairly soon after the opening hours are released as the hotels will get booked up.

I advise including some weekdays in the trip too as weekends get really busy. We went Thurs-Tues this year and the weekdays were much quieter and the car park wasn't as rammed. Over the Sat/Sun we used the time to do some spectating and picture taking.

Its fairly priced,half mile from the entrance and your room overlooks one of the fastest bits of the ring.its owned by Sabines family and if your lucky like I was you get to share a balcony with her...well she was on the next table anyways. :rolleye:

We booked it for 12 rooms 3 weeks before we left last April,no problem with availablity...

It's the same weekend as Le Mans and as a result is supposed to be a bit quieter! :drinking:

Post by: tony_danza on January 08, 2009, 05:01:26 pm: October was fairly quiet by comparison, especially the Monday cos everyone had gone home. We were just going around and jumping straight back on - no queuing!

Still, it's not bulletproof, all the d*ckhead kids on the Sunday afternoon doing 'one more lap' and then smashing their cars up pretty much wrote off that session as it was closed more than open. But on the good side, there were no bikers.

Plus you get sunsets like this over Nurburg Castle to enjoy a beer to.
