Title: dip stick popping out

Noticed last night after a 30 mile drive that there ws a bit of smoke coming out of the enigne bay, popped the bonet to find that the dipstick had popped out, and seemed to be 'breathing heavy' if that makes sence

Im guessing its something on the breather system, what do you guys think? and what should i be checking for?

the cars an '08 2.0 gt tdi 170 and covered 54k

Likely the PCV system has failed

Start the engine and remove the oil filler cap - if the engine doesnt start chugging, you need a new PCV assembly (About £40 from VW)
