I've got an issue with my car. And I say car as opposed to radio, because this happens with either my MFD2 or Rns510.
The radio is fine when stationary however when moving the radio is affected with a static crackle.
Any other audio source.... HDD/SD etc is unaffected.
Seems to have happened since my throttle body was changed... This might just be a coincidence though.
Any idea to as how to fault find this or how to fix it? To me it looks like an earth issue.
Thanks
Rich

Evening, post tea bump.
-
earth strap?
-
I seem to remember its something to do with the signal amplifer in the boot lid. Sure i had it bookmarked. Give me a sec..........
-
Had the same fault tailgate wiring issue for me.
-
More info please chaps :happy2:
Earth strap? Where do I find this?
-
Just a bit more info.....
The battery - terminal and earth strap appear to be fine. Is there any point in taking it off?
The static crackle only occurs when the engine is running.... even when stood still.
It does not happen if the engine is switched off OR if the ignition is on.
Any more ideas?

Alternator needs a suppressor unless its the antenna causing the bad earth.
Does the interference noise increase as you increase the revs?

Its not alternator whine... its not linked to engine speed.

Poo.
Dunno then. Try Eddie. He'll have the educated answer!

Will test that today.
I have an factory fit OEM SatNav roof aerial.. the little short shark fin type one, if that makes any odds.

Rear demister doesnt make a difference.
Looking in the Setup menu (the hidden one) when looking at the FM option... it keeps going between mono and stereo. I got a video... will post it once my phone turns back on
-
Ignore the sound on it....

Bump.... anyone :sad1:
Could it be the alternator?
-
I can't for the life of me find the page I had book marked where somebody had the same issue (not on this forum) and it was found to be something like the amplifier in the boot. I'll keep looking :)

I have thought about running the car and pulling fuses to see if I can isolate where the issue is.
Does anyone have a good clear fuse layout diagram... the VW ones are so piss poor.
-
Only happens on FM radio... AM seems unaffected.
-
Faffed around with the aerial connectors... swapped them over... no difference.
Pulled the Parrot loom out... no difference.

Hi Rich,
Did you ever get to the bottom of this. I ask as a friend as exactly the same problem with his Jetta and i have completely drawn a blank!!
-
No. Still the same.

I don't know if this will work but it might - turn off auxiliary monitoring
