as above guys been searching seen a few cars that have had this done where they using the front indcators as like side lights unless i am wrong how is this done is it easy enough to do
-
You just need vcds, go into central electrics and its in there, you can have any brightness you wish on then, you just put in a value, I have mine on 75 percent
-
VAGCOM address 09 central electrics , long coding, long coding helper, turn signal as running light and type in a value between 0-100 this is for the brightness. I have mine at 20% and is a good brightness
-
bloody hell i need to get my self a vagcom lead or something i want this doing but no one local to me to sort also whats this corning lights all about can these be turned on via vagcom lead of like ebay and how easily is to be done
-
Cornering lights I assume you mean the fog lights as cornering lights? Iirc you will need a new 30 byte highline CECM.
Where are you? Near Bradford?
-
which i have got highline display, no i am not i am in skegness but got family in wakefield and go up there quite alot i so want this doing despratley sound like a little kid a christmas but looks so good
-
Your confusing the highline display in your instrument cluster with the 30 byte highline central electrics module which you'll need. I doubt you'll have the the 30 byte CECM.
If your ever in the area give me a shout on here and I'll happily do the lights for you.
-
My ed30 has cornering fogs?
-
My ed30 has cornering fogs?
It all depends on what cecm you've got. If you have a 30 byte one then yes, you just need to activate it via vcds :happy2:

So does this mean my car has features that could be turned on?
-
Like this?

As said you use VCDS in 09-> coding -> long coding helper -> turn signal as running light
You don't need a fancy CECM for that but you do for the cornering fogs (Just clarifying).
ps on a personal note I think cornering fogs look daft :scared: :P

Can do a lot... look on Ross-Tech for Mk5 tweaks, too much to list really but, anti hijack, alarm bleeps, windows on key, auto-windows up with rain sensor.. etc etc.
-
Auto windows with rain sensor sounds good :happy2:
-
Does anyone know in which byte it says to use signals as running lights? I cant seem to find it in controller 9 long coding helper.

If anyone in the North West needs this doing then I can do it. :)

At 50%

(Sidelight bulbs are orange 501's - makes the whole strip look orange!)
-
50% is far too bright for night time driving IMO. :surprised:
-
A bit late but done mine today. Looks pretty awesome!

Probably my most favourite mod so far.
-
^^^^ looks a lot brighter in that pic than it actually is in the flesh, must have been the angle and my crappy phone camera.
-
Glad you still like them!
A mate of mine has had me turn them on and off about 5 times before he decided he wanted to keep them lol
-
Is there anyway to make them come on without main or sidelights?
-
No, not without running relays and other things.
You'd have to wire things up so with the lights off but the ignition on, the lights were actually on, however you had a switched relay (done by the headlights being on(or on auto) or off).
You can check US Daytime Running Lights which with the handbrake down would illuminate the front headlights only with the handbrake down.
You can then dim the daytime running lights (being the dipped beam bulb) and theoretically you could dim this by 100% but I've not tried this and I don't think it would go down well with Xenons..
-
I think I tried that on the caddy and the lights had a fit! They just flashed on and off randomly!
I'm in the north east by the way and have vcds. Sunderland, Newcastle, Middlesbrough, Gateshead etc.
-
So what happens when you use the indicators? Do they flash on off at 100% brightness?
-
So what happens when you use the indicators? Do they flash on off at 100% brightness?
Yes they do
-
That legal?. Thought you should only show a ''white light'' to the front?.
-
Yes it is legal. I never got pulled with them and they passed 2 MOTs.
BMWs have them as factory..
-
I've recently changed my indicators to led bulbs along with orange led side lights. Looks crisper and matches sidelight brightness, but flashes much brighter now (had to modify headlight internal slightly)
