Will a cdl engine which used to have a dsg box on it fit in my mk5 gti with my manual box bolted on. In the process of getting one but just want to be sure it's ok.
-
Yes matey, it sure will... Just make sure you get it mapped to suit, Right away! :happy2:
-
100% fine just use your fuel pressure sensor and map sensor.
-
Cheers for the help peeps. I'm running stage 3 on my old bwa at the moment. Will I still need the map adjusted.
-
Any specific reason for going CDL?
Problems with the BWA? Desire to push things further?

I think this may have something to do with his desire...

I remember reading this thread a while back :sad1: - didn't link the OPs were the same.
Hope the OPs probs are resolved quickly & trouble free.
-
it will need to be tweaked as different compression ratio, but your get more power out of it.
I changed from a bwa to a cdl.
-
You may have problems along the way but put it all down to experience... You will learn a lot, and what a journey!
:happy2:
Good luck!
You will never look back  or maybe you will but soon to realise you made the right choice.!

Yeah that's the reason for going cdl
As I smoked my my last engine through a stupid mistake. It threw about 6 of the rockers off which jammed th valves so that bent them. And also jammed the intake cam which in turn snapped the sprocket of the exhaust cam at th cam chain end. Oh and blew a couple of holes in the intake. So well in truly stuffed it.

She's out
-
good job dude, you doing it at home on your own?
-
Yeah I thought I would have a go. It doesn't seem that bad. Took 4 hours to get to that stage. Getting my new engine on wendsday. So il transfer all my parts and fit the new one on Saturday. I'm debating wether to stick a new helix clutch in though as seen as its out it would take minutes. But it's more expense. The new motor is from a tts same as s3 so I'm hoping it will be ok. It comes with a clutch on it anyway but I don't no if there a stronger clutch than my standard bwa one or the same.

Some pics
Of
The damage done to old engine. Snapped sprocket of exhaust cam at cam chain end. Also 2 bent intake valves.

Could of been repaired but thought may as well go the whole way.
-
Snapped the top of the valve off too!
Good effort.
-
Yeah mate I don't mess about. :signLOL:
-
I would have thought the two clutches are the same, if you could stick an upgraded one in, that would be the way forward :happy2:
as the sub frame needs dropping out to install the new one .
-
Yea they are the same.
Look at my build done the same as u :happy2:
I would put an uprated clutch in now ur just destroy it.
-
Yeah iv seen your build thread James. Car is epic. Bet thats fun to drive.
Iv took your advice and just ordered a 400 ftlb Sachs cover plate and friction disc. Still going to use my dual mass flywheel though.

As the car has been sat gathering dust whilst he's in NZ, I reckon he's forgotten how it drives :signLOL:
Any reason for sticking with the DMF? I'm going SMF at the end of the month.
-
lol tell me about it. I got a 150bhp 4x4 how lol.
only 400ftlb... I am running 450
I know single mass needs abit more leg work.
-
No real reason for keeping my dual mass. Just easier and cheaper I guess. Plus there's plenty on here with organic clutches with dual mass and they seem fine. If I was going big power then I would get a solid one.
-
Only 400ftlb lol
That's plenty for me. :driver:
-
lol yea joking dude. 400 is still crazy for fwd
-
Engine all fitted but got a problem. Iv set my revo map back to stock on the sps. The car will not go past 4k rpm. Soon as it hits 4k the revs plummet super fast and you can hear the dv dumping. Iv fitted my g247 and map sensor from my bwa. I hope I ent been stung with a dodgy engine.
-
I got no fault lights on dash
-
As far as I know dude, it's needs to be mapped to suit the new engine, turbo, injectors etc... Revo stage 3 !
Have you spoke to Revo about this yet?
:happy2:
Hope you get it sorted soon.
-
call Alex :happy2:
-
I all ready got stage 3 revo map on the car. I may have to give him a call see if he could take a quick look but I know he's a very busy man.
-
iirc fuelling is slightly different with the new engine so something to explore...
-
Turbo & Injectors?
-
Yeah the lot. So I wid of thought it would of worked
-
Turbo & Injectors?
iirc james found that the cdl engine needed different fuel mapping compared with his blown k04 bwa engine.
Perhaps you could ask Nick at R-Tech for more info as he did james mapping.
-
Does anyone know the part number for the g247 sensor. Just wondering if I put the wrong one back in.
-
You need your old G247 and old map sensor.
Fueling isnt that much different between the two so the new lump will still run fine.
Gimme a call tomorrow afternoon if you are still stuck.
-
Yep iv done that mate. I'm gona wip the intake manifold of 2 mora and see if the cdl engine I bought has got the k04 injectors in. You never no they may of swapped them out when they sold me the engine. I hope not as I just sold my old ones.
-
Iv checked the injectors and they are the right ones. I done a short video of what's happening. It revs to 5500rpm now and then plummet rapidly with backfires the lot. On th video I didn't let of or Chang gear. Any thoughts. I'm gona take it to aks in a couple of weeks anyway but just wana see if anyone has had a similier problem.

-
How does it drive after that happens?
Does it still drive normal of boost, could you keep doing the same thing over again?
-
I haven't really kept my foot to the floor as it sounds terrible. Usally it does it and power cuts for a split second and jerks really bad then I let of. But It drives ok until I get upto 5500rpm then it will do the same. It's slowly letting me rev higher as on Thursday it would do it at 4000rpm.
-
Do you have it mapped for the new engine yet?
-
Did you ever get the part number for the g247 sensor?
-
that is odd. mine was fine when I changed the g247.
I could still trash it but the car had lost power due to the compression ratio.
Mine never did that. You need to do some logging dude could be fuel cut.
-
Yep it's strange. It's gota be a sensor or a fuel cut. I need to get it scanned il just wait till Alex gets back I think.
-
G247 sensor from a 2006 BWA TFSI engine
BOSCH
06D 906 051A
BPK
-
Cheers iv got the right g247 in then so it's not that. Just went out in it again and put my foot down and held it there this time I got cel and epc light on. Also it flashed on mfd that low oil pressure switch engine off immediately. Iv got plenty of oil in it.
-
All being well it will be something simple matey, I'm sure Alex will find the problem.
If your like myself you like to find the problem and solve it yourself, if you were able to get a scan it could directly point to the problem...
-
Hope so mate. I just hope oil isn't going past pistons causing it to foul the plugs causing misfires. Saying that the plug tips look good and don't look like they've been in contact with oil.
-
Also iv heard it could be a faulty crank sensor causing the engine to cut power and bringing low oil light to come on.
-
Iv sorted it wahayyy. Went to change crank sensor and when I removed plug connector it was full of rusty water. Cleaned it up put it back together and hey presto. I can rev to redline with no misfires. Car doesn't feel as quick but I'm gona get Alex to adjust my revo map for me.
Thank f**k for that. I was thinking the worst.
-
Noob question alert
Can you post a picture of where that sensor is and its part number?
-
Part number is 06a 906 433 g.

Happy Days pal, i'm sure your well glad, it normally turns out to be an easy fix, but we always think and check the worst.
