Title: Intake Manifold
Post by: Ianmr on June 02, 2013, 09:11:42 pm
My engine management light has been coming on and off intermittently so I thought it best I get it checked as there was no real reason that I could feel or work out for it coming on.

Garage called me back to it seems some of the butterfly's have been sticking on the intake manifold. It now needs to be replaced.

Has anyone else come across this? Is it a common problem? Any thoughts on why they would stick?

The car is an 07 plate with just over 50k on the clock.

I'm sorry to say that it seem's to be quite a common problem on the Gti's,mine did it as well and then my independent VW specialist set some value's using there fancy VW diagnostic  and it has'nt come back since, but will need to be changed as soon as I can get round to doing it,it cost's around £200+ for the part. :surprised:

Luckily the car is still under it's year warranty from the garage and they are covering it even though I have a Neuspeed induction kit other wise it would have been a nice little £600 bill :(

Then I would have upgraded and looked at some after market if such a thing exists.

Just interested ti know why it has happened.
