Title: How to make a Xenon Loom Up
Post by: Grande_GTi on June 03, 2013, 09:44:52 am
Hi there all

Just wanted to find out if theres a diagram or a list of parts required for making a loom up that converts standard head light to the Xenon looms

I know kufatec sell them but I just fancied having a go at making it my self

Thanks

Ricky

sorry for going a bit off topic - but whats the crack with retro fitting xenons?
I know depo do some headlights, but do you need to buy seperate ballasts/bulbs etc?
is there a more OEM way of doing this? ive had a look but cant get a clear answer.sorry for the thread jack and Thanks in advance! :happy2:

depo's are xenon look only....they require a h7 bulb or maybe a hid kit...

There are also Depo lights that instead of having H7 and plug and play (like those in my group buy i did) , have D2S fit, but come with no bulbs, no ballasts and no ignitors. So if you got them, and also bought bulbs, ignitors, ballasts and wiring adapters you'd have a OEM type bi-xenon setup but ££££!!!

I'll be opting for buying the looms I think that diagram baffed the hell out of me lol, It was that Ive got the plugs and some wires so I thought Id have a crack but it seems more effort tbh

I thought about depo's, **IMO** genuine will always be genuine, and I realise theres another £200 but just save the extra and get them, thats what I did, but In the defence of depo's Ive not yet seen a set close up.**as said this is my opinion and I hope not to offend**

Dead easy to make the loom up mate... if your gonna spend 35 quid on that one, you might as well get a Kufatec one.

As the other says, just buy it and save yourself the time. ;-)

Remember that you will need to use VCDS and tell the CANBUS-system that you have Xenon headlights... Otherwise you will have one hell of a flickering show when you turn the Xenons on.

Pic of the depos on the car - no xenons required -I run osram superbrights dipped & full beam. More than bright enough!! (Yes I've had xenons on other cars before!)

Guys in the end I went with the link below

http://www.kufatec.co.uk/shop/en/Volkswagen/Golf/Golf-5-/-Golf-5-Plus-1K/Xenon/HID-Headlights-Adapter-VW-Golf-5

Cracking seat of guys, they price matched the ebay loom to £34 and charged me £4 postage so all in all £38 for a kufatec loom

Happy days
