Hi, hoping some of you can help me out here...
im looking to lower my mk5 gt tdi (170) but unsure how low to go
My old mk4 gt was lowered on 40mm springs on mk4 16' gti alloys and although it was great for every day driving it did scrape a lot when i drove down some of the country roads through cumbria - i do a lot of photography so i do often travel down these lovely roads...
looking for it to sit a little higher than my mk4 would you say that sportlines on mine running 18" would be higher or lower than before?
or do you think the eibach pro-lines would be more up my street?

I have Sportlines and they aren't too low, though mated up to very good shockers which I think helps. Loads of bumpy and bad roads around my area too, check my sig for pics.
The Pro kit is more of a halfway house, but as you have a 170 you may not drop more than a few mm as they are already lowered a tad?

iirc they are 15mm lower standard, is your undertray still all in tact then, when i lowered my old one the main bit was ripped off within 3 weeks and the 2 on each followed shortly after...

I've never scraped once, even with four adults in the car.

I had h&r springs which are slightly lower than sportlines and iv never scraped, i do lots of driving up cumbria way too and never had a problem

Same here.
5 adults in car and still no scrape on speed bumps with H&R springs.
Worth doing the arch screw mod though to get that extra few mm clearance :happy2:

I'm running eibach pro sport springs with -30mm on 16" wheels ...I sometimes wonder if i should of gone lower ..but I get over everything like I did before just looks oem now
