Title: Quick detailer
Post by: Bryan on June 03, 2013, 03:31:14 pm
So my quick detailer is running low(dodo juice red mist)
And was wondering what other options are actualy decent.
I love the dodo juice for the deep shine it leaves but it can be hard to leave the paint streak free imo.
Any recomendations??

I'm sure Saintsteve will be along soon to recommend something from Zaino

I've used loads,

Megs ultimate, FK425, Auto Finesse, dodo juice, Miglior, GTechniq to name a few.

To be honest they all perform pretty much the same and as long as the car has been well prepared, polished properly, glazed/waxed/sealed properly and is washed correctly afterwards you would be hard pressed to see a difference between the different brands.

Depends what you want.
Carnuba based QD don't often last that long, maybe a couple of weeks tops - AF Tough Coat or I think is it C2v2? The spray Gtechniq sealant, apply like QDs but offer durable protection.
That being said they offer no cleaning purposes, so maybe megs last touch followed by one of the above?

Megs Ultimate for me. No streaks or smears, works on metallic and solid colour. SO easy to apply I tend to use it every time I wash - so no idea of lasting qualities!

I personally think quick detailer is a gimmick and is stupidly over priced I got a bottle of quick detailer with a autoglym clay bar years ago and it was ran out before I Clayed the car once since then I've used a cap of shampoo mixed with water and it does the same thing I've found and I've used it ever since for cleaning car at car shows to take off light dust doesn't seem to leave any streaks and my car is always waxed so I'm not interested in any wax protection they supposedly provide. Just me 2p worth here some may disagree with me but it seems to be working for me lol

Quick Detailer is supposed to EITHER be a highly lubricating solution to remove dust and light surface contaminents from paintwork
OR
as a carnuba or synthetic base to provide extra protection between washes.

For claying manufacturers sell you "QD" but it's not the same, and you are right to use shampoo and water, which is going to be just as safe and 50 times cheaper.

Or just use Bilt Hamber Clay as you only need water for that.  :happy2:

U only need water for any clay bar as long as u keep a running hose over it that's the best way I found but if I'm gonna do it with a spray bottle ill add shampoo

That's the good thing about Bilt Hamber. You don't need a running hose. I do it once I've finished washing etc and use the water that is there from the rinse.
