Evening,
My drivers' side wing mirror has started to wobble. The housing is fine - not been clipped or anything but the mirror seems to be a little loose. Have tried adjusting the position and it doesn't make any difference. It's really distracting when driving so keen to get it fixed..
Anyone got any suggestions? New mirror? New mounting bits??
Thanks in advance...

Hi mate, I had this about a month ago when driving down the m4.
The lens itself comes away from the backing.
I used Araldite to bond it back on.
Quite common I've heard.

So should I gently prize the mirror off then araldite it back?? Does it come off quite easily?? Any tips?

Yeah mate, all I did was prize mine off. Was completely loose at the bottom but still on slightly at the top. Didn't require much force.
When I did mine I took the mirror casing/cover/housing off. That way I could line it up better and do a good job of it.

Ok cool.. Is it fairly simple to take the cover off??? Any hints and tips?

Finally got round to tackling this today.. No need to follow the above instructions.. Just tilt the mirror to its most pointy up position (so you can see the sky) and gently pull the mirror off its housing clips.. Really much simpler..
Cheers,

Mines doing this wobble thing too. Have to get some glue!
-
Don't need to take any of the mirror housing apart. The glass should be attached onto the heated backing pad which just unclips. Pull the glass off, unclip the backing pad, remove the heater wires and take your 2 bits indoors to glue back together. I used Loctite Serious Glue to stick mine back on and it has been fine since.
They fall off because VW thought it'd be a good idea to have a rotating switch for the heated mirrors, rather than a button with a timer. You turn the switch on and then forget about it until 3 months later when the sticky pad has cooked and your mirror starts doing the wobbly!

Mines doing this!! Driving me nuts!!
Off to halfrauds now, can anyone recommend the glue? Is it still actually called areldite?

I used the no more nails double sided sticky pads and they are brilliant for this
