Got to be a 996 or 964 or 993 considered?
(Not talking 997 as am looking to see whether one might be a viable option on a shared ownership basis of 50/50 or 1/3 if doable)

964 and 993 prices are already heading towards the moon, so if you're buying as an investment, you'll have to get searching old ladies garages for a bargain hidden away.
996 is a genuinely daily usable car, that'll scare you sh*tless.

oops yes, just check proices, so its either a 996 or nothing basically as the earlier ones are, as you say, stratospheric already! 996 seem to start about 20k mark which is more like it if can get father and brother in law to buy into it

Seems a quite popular mod is to remove the front drive, making it effectively a GT2. I can see how this would be a highly amusing way to spend 20k.

you driven a fair few of these then?

I'd like a 996 Turbo at some point in black, can get them for early 20k's now, but obviously have high running costs.
I followed a mint 993 Turbo down to Goodwood supercar sunday at the weekend, some awesome roads but he was driving very slowly. To me it defeats the purpose of having a car like that, if it's too valuable to enjoy then what is the point. Obviously I'm not expecting him to get near the limits on the road, but he had a queue of people carriers and superminis behind him

Not really, driven a 996T a few times. They're clinically fast.
Friend has a Manthay GT2 CS, that is a whole different kettle of fish. Properly frightening car around the Ring, makes me wince.

I looked at these a while back as an option for a track car. Good handling, especially in Clubsport form.
Hard to find a decent quality one nowadays too.

Redline in knarsbrough has 2 in, both very nice.

Get a cheaper Sport and retro-fit the seats, M030 pack & LSD. Voila - Clubsport!

Steering feel is awesome on these. Stock with 420bhp they aren't that quick for this day and age now but with a remap that changes, add some hybrid turbos and then it's ballistic.
