Title: help for a mate td gti 170 best oil

my mates been a bit of a silly tit and not had a service for two years and said the lads on here will know the best, only does 2k a year to be honest but not the point. I'm a bit hands on and said I'd do a service for him but anyone the best oil for the job??

You will need VW Spec 504.00/507.00 oils. Generally it's the 5w-30 Fully Synthetic grades you're after such as the Castrol Edge FST 5W-30 or Mobil 1 ESP Formula 5W-30.

Any oil really with which meets 507.00 standards I use Mobil 1 ESP or Motul Specific

Basically it's the same stuff as goes in the GTI. They don't do separate diesel or petrol oils now. Simples

If you have a Local TPS pop in a grab a Quantum Longlife 3 5w30,

spec's are VW504 00/507 00  and these specs are the Most uptodate.

And a cheeky fact is the Oil is made by Castrol so you getting excellant quality oil

I use shell av-l, make sue you get vw 507.00
