Title: Ps4 or Xbox one
Post by: nathangallo on June 11, 2013, 08:04:15 am
With more details released from e3 what are you guys thinking?

I've had ps all my life and personally I feel they are better for what I want out of a console did buy and Xbox 360 just didn't like it and got rid within weeks.

New Xbox seems ott in my opinion and at £80 cheaper I think I'm going to go ore-order my ps4 today   :happy2:

Haha let me rewrite.

I'll be getting both due to the fact my GF will end up buying me one of them.

She'll be happy these new consoles will be released just before Xmas as it means getting me something I'll like "won't be hard this year" lol.

Otherwise I'd probably just have one of them.

will ps4 play ps3 games? I thought I read that it won't..
If it won't then, for the first time, I might look at xbox as forza is supposed to be best driving game there is.......not impressed with GT5 or grid2.

If you want a good driving game you need to get R-Factor for the PC.

Can't be bothered with either ATM. My ps3 I got for GT and I didn't get into it and its now just a glorified BD player. I can't see the point from upgrading from the 360 to the Xbox 1 as the only game I want is GTA V and that's on the older consoles and at £430 it well too much money so will wait a while until prices drop.

The one thing I want is forza mind!
There is a game called drive club which looks ok, I just think the ps4 is going to be an easier console day to day, the whole crap about having it connected to the Internet once a day is going to be a nightmare! Going on holiday so can you 'look' after the Xbox ahah!

PS4 when the prices come down, but not nearly as bothered as I was when the PS3 came out... tablets/phones etc. have moved on so much, that consoles don't seem that special anymore.

I cant believe this actually bothers people? My Xbox 360 is connected to the internet whenever im playing anything. Its a non issue.

The DRM issues dont bother me, i buy "most" my games new anyway. After a few weeks, they are discounted sufficiently cheaper than most pre-owned copies anyway. But Sony has definitely got the edge with its blow to the gut and allowing DRM free games.

Xbox One for me, as i have invested a fair amount of time since 2006 on my Gamertag. And i much prefer Forza to GT.

The Xbox exclusives look great too.  :happy2:

Everyone should also remember that the £429 for the Xbox One is including the new HD Kinect system. You had to pay £130 for Kinect alone when it was released for the Xbox 360.

Would it bother you if you didn't have an internet connection then?  Not me personally but I have friends in the RAF who wouldn't be able to use an xbox as they can't guarantee they have a proper internet connection, depending on where they're based.  Certainly more than a "non-issue" to some.

I normally buy my xbox games, complete the game then sell them on and recoup a good portion of the money back (as i dont really play much online) and MS have deliberately targeted this.

Yes the £429 includes the kinect sensor.  What if you don't play Kinect games?  My room is the size of a shoe box and I have absolutely zero interest in playing kinect-able games.  So why am I being stung for something I don't want or need?  Why not package it separately?  Purchasing the PS4 and their kinect version still works out cheaper than buying an xbone.  Also why am I getting stung in comparison to the Americans?  500 dollars worked out at about 320 quid at current rates.  However MS have decided im good for another hundred quid.

If the rumours are to be believed about them having to downclock the processor speeds due to yield problems as well as Microsoft implicated in the prism scandal currently going on, and the fact they want kinect to always be on, I'm really struggling to see benefits of buying one.  Will they even be able to sell them in Europe given our privacy laws?

As a current xbox user I'm really really annoyed at what MS have tried.  I assumed I would just buy an xbone as a continuation from my 360 as I've enjoyed the franchises and I personally think the xbo controller is far better.  Not a chance now, would rather get the PS4 and have 80 odd quid in my back pocket.

I'm going to go game later and do mine :driver:

I know we have to pay a premium to get it on the first day but I also know I will be jelous if I didn't get it first day

Looked at prices of games then and there not cheap mind, looks like FIFA is £69 cod is £55, so to get a good setup from attach we're looking at £500 I reckon

I would never use Kinect/PSEye. Given that we still don't have 100% reliable broadband, it's a bit silly to demand an always-on connection. Secondhand/used games are an excellent way to try "unusual" or "different" games. The only downside to the PS4 is that we'll now have to pay for online gaming, which was free on the PS3.

I'm used to paying for xbox live so the online gaming payment won't make much difference to me.  However reading up about it I was suprised (pleasantly!) they give you free games for being a PS+ subscriber?

What happens if you don't play on it everyday, what is the problem with it not connecting to the Internet? The issuer with the games doesn't bother me at all as I have never traded a game in or bought second hand.

Just imagine your Internet breaks for a few days, can't even play Xbox, and in it
Of countries around the world the Internet connection is still unreliable and/or a luxury.

As for kinect never use it I think it's pointless.

It has wifi, i have an iphone with personal hotspot. No problem for me. Im sure there will be some kind of workaround for armed forces.

There is also plenty of time for the requirements to change. At this stage, they are still counteracting public reaction.

I bought a PS1 a week after Launch, Bought my PS2 on Launch Day in Japan (3-4 Months before UK release, was living in Singapore at the time) and pre-ordered my PS3 for collection on launch day from Woolworths (remember them?), needless to say I have just pre-ordered my PS4 from Shopto £348.98, hope its November sometime.

Regards Backwards compatability with PS3 I am not at all fussed, I never played PS2 games on my PS3 so not being able to play PS3 games on my PS4 does not bother me in the slightest :happy2:

The Kinect is something I know about, lost of the guys at the golf club have Xbox 360 and only one of them has Kinect, and for the guys who have PS3 none have the PS3 Eye, I don't think trying to justify the extra money for the Kinect is right as in my case only 10% actually use it and I am guessing that the PS4 Eye price will still mean its priced under the Xbox One.

Second hand games are worth considering, I play regularly with some guys from the Golf club (in the golf club itself lol, handy when the Golf Pro and head greenkeeper are very keen gamers), I also get free golf lessons from the Pro courtesy of him not being able to beat me at Tiger Woods 14  :P, they also have a 60" screen to use  ) so they sometimes buy games and we play them on my PS3, when we are bored the game gets sold and we get a new one (Altho Fifa, Call of Duty, Madden and Tiger never gets boring), I also trade/sell older games I no longer use (bought on a whim and did not like).

I also play online with some mates and my brother (although only once or twice per month) and being lucky enough to have 50MB+ broadband the connection issue it not there (I can also connect at the Golf club using their Wifi), online gaming in the main is not for me, mostly its a bunch of yank kids giving it the "Big one", can do without hearing some spotty virgin trash talking  :signLOL: I had a Bluetooth earpiece for 3 months and soon left it turned off with volume down!.

The PS3 will pretty much live at the golf club once there are some decent games launched on PS4  :signLOL:

There is always going to be brand loyalty (me) or those who don't want to change (me) and those people will buy PS4, it will be interesting to see how many from PS3 buy Xbox One and how many from Xbox 360 Buy PS4, personally I think there will be more of the latter due to price/limitations on Xbox One.

Heard that the PS4 Eye will be an additional £70, so there is realisitically only £10 difference in the overall price.

£44 it has been announced at.  And again not everyone wants it.

Tamiyoman - I also think there'll be a hell of a lot more going from xbox --> PS4 as opposed to the other way round.  That's the way I'm going!

I think so, I think it's mainly down to the having to be connected to internet and the second hand games market, I know 4 guys who have Xbox360 and will be getting PS4 purely because of that (3 due to 2nd hand games issue and 1 due to internet requirement), we were discussing yesterday after our round of golf, even Rich (The Die hard Xbox man) said he will get a PS4 (He only buys games second hand when prices have come down and never plays online as he only plays against his 12yr old son) and he has never had Kinect and in his words "I don't fu&^%ng need it, why do I have to pay up front for it?, robbing Ba^&%$ds!!!"

A couple of the lads with Xbox 360 are getting Xbox One so it will be good to compare them side by side.

General consensus looking at the forums and reviews is that PS4 is cheaper/More powerful and you can use 2nd hand games, think it wins hands down based on that, will be good to see them launch at same time so it would be a fair comparison on sales.

I only play certain games anyway myself (Tiger woods, Fifa, FPS, GT, Madden etc)

For me it comes down to exclusive IP, as well as time invested in my GT.

Forza, Halo etc. Might end up getting a PS4 at some stage.

And you are still going to be able to sell them at least once. So there will be some value in them, but i dont think the value of 2nd hand games will be as high.

I'm going into my local Game this weekend and pre ordering my Xbox One.

My son has already asked me for the new Xbox for his Christmas but he lives in the country where broadband is not available yet! So they means he won't be able to use it at all.

He also normally buys second hand games with the pocket money he saves.

He will be getting offerd a PS4 now.

It was always going to happen, Microsoft would have had to been total idiots to release the Xbox in that way! I still feel that the Playstation is the console for me. May be a little to late for some Xbox fans also, who knows it may be something they do in the future once you have bought the console !

my mate thinks it was a publicity stunt

tbh it boils down to what franchises you prefer. apart from Gears i have no interest at all in Xbox exlusives. and the Last of Us on it's own is enough of a reason to stick to Sony.

It's official, Microsoft just published a complete reversal on Xbox One DRM Policies.

The important parts:

- No more always online requirement
- The console no longer has to check in every 24 hours
- All game discs will work on Xbox One as they do on Xbox 360
- An Internet connection is only required when initially setting up the console
- All downloaded games will function the same when online or offline
- No additional restrictions on trading games or loaning discs
Region locks have been dropped

Because of this, the new console should now be called "Xbox One 80".

My son has already asked me for the new Xbox for his Christmas but he lives in the country where broadband is not available yet! So they means he won't be able to use it at all.

He also normally buys second hand games with the pocket money he saves.

He will be getting offerd a PS4 now.

Buy a mifi or use a phone as a personal hotspot thats got unlimited data?

Or just buy a PS4, easier, cheaper and better machine  :signLOL:

I talked him into a PS4, preorderd at the weekend just hope it arrives before Christmas now.

Cancelling that pre-order now then with the policy reversal? Poor kids dreams crushed!! ;)

I will just stick with the PS4 he is still excited about getting it

What an embarrassing U-turn by Microsoft.  Can only wonder how many people they've still lost over this.

I just chose the platform with the games and exclusives i wanted. Ive had PS1 & PS2 in the past, and ive had Xbox since the 360. So as i wanted some of the Xbox One games, ive gone for that system. And ive put a huge amount of time into my gamertag achievements and score.

I very rarely play online games, so gamertags/achievements etc are of no matter to me  :happy2:, its something I tend to play with mates when the wives/Gf's are not around

Not going to bother this time, I've had Playstations since launch, 1/2/3 - I wouldn't class myself as a huge gamer, very rarely these days... I bought the PS2 because it also played DVD's and the PS3; Blu-Ray as well as gaming...  the PS4 doesn't add anything to the mix other than better graphics so I'll wait until the price has slipped.

Yeah me neither, I only play once per week on average, but it keeps me entertained and keeps me in free Golf lessons, The PS3 has paid for itself 3 times over in free golf lessons from the Pro (He cannot beat me at Tiger woods or Fifa LOL)

When it comes down to it, though, the specs mean nothing on their own: It’s entirely down to how Microsoft, Sony, and game developers actually use the hardware.

End of the day, both as good as each other, and of course you would favour one from the other if your friends already are on that platform  :P

I've got a PS3 aye.
Only got Killzone so far, but I'll get a few more soon!
I'll let you know how it is!

It's mad!
The graphics and sound are
I expected to hate the controller after the DS3, which is my favourite thing ever :signLOL:, but the new one feels so much nicer, it sits perfectly in your hands, and the analogues are so smooth..
The triggers too.. :congrats: :congrats:
Some nice features on there already, and I've played Killzone, Contrast & Resogun, which are all very good so far.. Resogun is a bit of an arcade game though, so can get quite repetitive.

I'd say it's an awesome start to the generation, considering what the PS3 was like at launch..
I haven't tried one yet, but the Xbone has a hell of a lot to live up to.

golf lessons on the playstation??

I beat the Golf Pro on the PS4 games (Fifa) and I get free golf lessons  :happy2:

Managed to secure 3 Free Golf lessons on Saturday due to my wins on Fifa 14 lol

Won at Poker friday night and then on Sunday Dave and myself (A mate at the club) came in with a combined score of 79pts (Stableford) to win 1st prize (and that included me 4 putting the 18th green for a solitary point  :ashamed: )

All in a great weekend

I agree grid1 ps3 was better for pure touring car driving, but I've grown to like grid2 ps3 online once you get past all the Americanisms. It just feels right. The BAC mono always makes me smile..
