Title: advice on lowering my GTI Pls
Post by: GDubz on June 13, 2013, 11:30:12 am
Hi Guys

Considering lowering my Mk5 GTI 5Door currently on 18inch Monza's

What are the best springs or coilovers to go for in terms of cost and quality?
What is the reccomended hight reduction?
Is fitting them easy/cheap?

Many Thanks!

H&R or eibach springs.

Lowers approx 30mm

Fitting can be £50 - £200ish, depending on the garage. Then you will need 4 wheel allignment after that

Depends on how old/shot your dampers are - as your increasing the load/work they have to do with the lowered springs.

I personally run KW V2 coilovers and i find these more than adequate for my road use, there are others avail - Weitec, Gaz, AVO, Koni but depends if you want the ability to vary ride height? If not Koni and eibach do some very good fixed rate damper/spring combo's that aren't as pricey.

After talking to a friend and fellow member I'm going to go for the AP -20mm springs.. He says they are considered to match the OEM ride quality and comfort and won't cause any scuffing or tyre catching.. But my requirements will probably be different to yours.. I'm not after a big low and the style and conditions of roads in my county are not desirable at all..
