Title: Revo remap at GTi International, what settings will it be?
Post by: 18Edition30 on June 14, 2013, 09:55:00 pm
Thinking of taking advantage of the 20% off revo maps at gti international, but just wandering how they would determine correct settings at the show? They obviously won't have a dyno or have time to log on the road, so will it just be safe settings?

Not keen on having it done at show, want it done properly at a tuner to be set up and logged, but can't refuse 20% off software!

And it states offer only over show weekend.

I'm guessing t will be 'safe' settings and will need fine tuning by my dealer after the show at a later date?

Current mods are VWR intake, pre cat removed and milltek cat back.

Will

From what I have seen they use a basic set of safe settings. Save the 20% and pay your local Revo dealer to set it up on the dyno (going rate about £60) and you get dyno graphs as well!

So get it mapped at inters (save some dollar) then it will be perfectly fine to drive around for a while, then get it fine tuned by my dealer at a diff date?

It just won't be performing as well as it should?
Cheers PDT  :happy2:

Too many peeps on here have had their installed Revo done at inters, all completely cocked up and not set up on the cars correctly, as said, visit a local dealer to avoid being messed around.

One thing I've said many times is that Revo is a franchise a lot of "dealers" buy into and thus, a lot of guys who know nothing about engines are installing Revo maps  :scared:

Make sure you go to a reputable specialist that is knowledgeable in the TFSI engine. If you post up your location, I'm sure someone will suggest a reputable Revo dealer near you  :happy2:

Ideally a quick health check of your PCV, DV, boost pipes etc should be done by the dealer too

Agree with the above, I wish Revo was more stringent with their dealer selection and less greedy!

I had mine road mapped at AKS by Alex and was over the moon with the service and results  :happy2:

The misses had 1.4 tsi rocco mapped at inters and had no trouble since, but after discussing with revo her ecu doesn't have variable settings like ours, it's just 3 settings. 95 Ron, 98 Ron and 101 race fuel.

So easy to decide a setting depending on fuel. Whereas the TFSi need boost, timing and fuelling setting so not to easy to distinguish without logging I suppose, just like to save money but maybe it's not worth it, may as well pay the extra 100 and no it's right.

My local revo dealer is Clive Attowwe in Norwich, Norfolk.

Speaking to revo hq at inters last year and they all know clive and speak very highly of him so may have to bite the bullet!

Id be very surprised if REVO didnt speak highly of all their dealers.  They're hardly going to slate them to potential customers.

I disagree that REVO remaps are "all cocked up" when added at GTI International. I had mine fitted to the Edition 30 and it immediately was better than the "Custom Code" so called phase 2 map I had on just prior to that. They set the boost timing and fuelling to 669 for me, but those settings may well have changed since with their newer maps.

Not all maps will be optimised at any single setting, but that can be done with fine tuning on an hours dyno testing afterwards if required. :happy2:

Was quoting from the last 2 years John, could name 4 people who did this, all had emmision warning lights on route home or very soon after.

I would go to a dealer to install, and setup that way  :happy2:

Any idea who done your map hurdy? Which dealer?

Think they norm have around 7 in attendance and all are rated differently by people! Lol

What do you mean when you say....Not all maps will be optimised at any single setting...

So they would estimate safe settings then get it optimised afterwards at a dealer?!

Not serious, but annoyance from all the buying parties, having to deal with them after the show, alot of them where not local to Revo that installed it from the show.

I remember reading of quite a few people having issues with maps that were thrown on at Inters.  iirc they were all sorted with no issues after though.

Don't revo leave the protective elements if the ecu in place anyway? Like limp mode etc tc.

So can't be a real issue? Can there? Lol

Were some of the issues, DSG cars getting manual maps?

I was hoping the offer would be available to all revo dealers not just at the show. I have Statllers within 45 mins from home, PDT are 2hrs+ along with R tech.

Yes that's what I was hoping! According to the new VW driver mag it's just at the show this year.

Last year it was over the whole weekend but at dealers as well as the show.

May have to pm statler steve before the show, see what can be done, was offered 10% last time i was in.

Yes R-Tech may be cheaper, as many people post, but for me it also comes down to distance for tweeks or any issues, r-tech are miles away.

I had mine done at Inters 2010. They used B6T6F9 for settings. I later switched it to B7T5F9. All without logging. I later had it logged and it was pulling fine with no issues etc.

IIRC the yellow lights were on cars with Stage 2/Stage 2+ remaps.

Yes clive attowwe revo is 20 miles from me and r tech is over 100. Like you say easier for tweaks etc etc!

Good to know all went well, same settings as hurdy got given...no problems for you?

How long did you leave till logging was done?
