Hey guys, this is my first post here after lurking for a month or so. I've recently got a mk5 gti in tornado red and I am totally in love with it but one thing is starting to annoy me. If I get into my car after its been raining and put my window down even a crack, a torrent of water slides off the roof at the first change of direction and onto my arm/all over the doorcard. I'm sure this is partly to do with the fresh layer of wax but is also a little design flaw with the roof having no 'proper' gutters. So I've thought about wind deflectors to hopefully stop it coming into the car but I'm not sure if it will solve the issue. I had wind deflectors on my fabia and they looked great but did increase wind noise quite a bit, this wasn't an issue in the relatively unrefined fabia but does anybody have any experience with them on the much quieter mk5? I love how quiet it is at 'speed' and don't really want loads of wind noise ruining the cars refinement. So, 2 questions really, will wind deflectors keep the water from coming in the windows and will I kick myself for making my car noisey. Thanks very much!

Welcome!
I have bad news, in a word no, you always get wet even with the deflectors. I find mine is worse when cleaned as the water beads on the waxed surface and stays there until you turn left/right.

Wind deflectors are good for being able to put the window down a tad when its raining to get some air in. But put the window down and the drips will fly in

I just pop the windows down a tad with the deflectors until I have turned a few corners then your good to go!

Get into the habit of harsh braking the first few junctions so it rolls off
