Title: iphone not charging.
Post by: Razabarkatali on June 15, 2013, 08:38:03 pm
Hi guys,

Recently bought a MK5 GTI (Pirelli Edition) which I am soooo in love with. Does anyone know why I can play music from my iphone 5 through the connector in the armrest, but it won't charge.

Charges and plays fine with an iphone 4 and 4S.

Any ideas????

Probably not enough power to it for it to charge. Is it a USB connection in the Armrest?

No, I charge mine quite happily through a cigarette lighter socket charger.

ok. Just tried it with a 4th generation iPod touch which has the only style connection not the lightning cable the iphone 5 uses...still not charging.

:(

Ideas?

this is quite an old problem that has been discussed a few times

basically when VW made the ipod docks they were designed for the old type connections (ipod classic and the such) and since then apple changed the arrangement of the pins in the devices so the old connections are different

i use an ipod classic in mine and everything works fine
