Is your car still under warranty and stock? If so my first port of call would be the dealers.

If not.....

Do you have VAGCOM/VCDS?

Just in case you don't know what the above is, it is a cable and software that plugs into your on-board diagnostic port to read error codes from the car. This should give you a starting point as to what is wrong with it.

If not ask around the forums for people near you who could help.  :happy2:

Sounds like a dodgy steering wheel controller?  the one under the steering wheel controls all or most of what you have put down there...Can you paste your vag com readings on here and we can make a better judjement has to what it could be.

Cheers

....And also alert the boffins in the VCDS / VAGCOM area of the site - In fact, wouldn't this thread be better moved there?

No airbag light on??

....I think Stu means the airbag icon warning light in the speedo display (see Handbook).

The drivers airbag also passes through the Steering Controller.

Bugger I had a spare controller sitting here aswell you could have had it for a tenner,

Cheers Stu I figured it would be that from all the related problems,

By the way if the steering light was lit up amber your steering will be fine but if it lights up red then thats when you will have problems.

Hope its sorted OP

Quite a few variation in part numbers.

You will most likely need to carry out some basic setting adaptions after fitting the new controller, it depends how badly it was fecked up.

If it does still throw up some codes, don't panic, make a note of them and post them here.

Do you have the right part?
Do you have the multifuntionbuttons on your steering wheel? if so, a box for a car without will lose the horn.

you won't get a vagcom error for the wrong box, aka non working horn
