Title: RCD 300 iPod connection
Post by: Simon_2.0t on June 17, 2013, 03:03:03 pm
Hi guys, anyone have one of these:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CAR-IPOD-IPHONE-AUX-INTERFACE-ADAPTOR-FROM-VW-AUDI-8PIN-/181144599698?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item2a2d0f3c92

Currently have a RCD300 6 disc headunit and looking for a cheap way to run my iPod threw it. In the future planning on upgrading to RNS so just a stop gap.

Any good?

Si

Think it'll be an RCD500, not a 300 if it's got in-built 6 CD. Shouldn't make any difference to you adding this though. I've not fitted one of these myself but lots have and most of the adapters plug in via the external CD changer socket like this one does so it should work ok.

Cheers mate, yeah think its a 500  :sad1:

Plugs in the CD changer output I think. Press the CD button twice to get to iPod? Just wonder if can change tracks from headunit rather than the iPod as like to hide it away.

Yes press CD twice. Most of these kits trick the head unit into thinking it has an external CD changer fitted so will come up as 6 different CDs to choose from, which depending on how the kit works, will allow you to change tracks/playlists. Don't think you'll get any track info displayed however I've read that some kits can do this somehow.
