Hi again
2nd post of the day. Got a slight problem. Done a search and cant really find anything. Basically when i take off from stand still and i get a squealing noise from the engine. If i give it a little more gas then than normal it wont happen. On stand still it doesnt make any noises so this rules out cambelt tensioner. It sounds like one of the belts making the noise.
Any help would be great
Thanks

Could it be the alternator belt?
On older cars, you can often heard them squeaking when pulling away from lights and general acceleration, when the engine is increasing speed and the slipping belt can't keep up

Mine does this but only when the aircon is on. Might be worth trying that to see if its the same thing

Thanks for the replies
I realised last night that its making a ticking noise from near the alternater. I had a similar problem on my audi a4. That made a squealing noise when turning the steering wheel and also a ticking noise and that was caused by the alternater pulley failing. Do the MK5 have similar pulleys?

hi ive worked for vw and audi, its a common problem with the alternator pulley, you can get one from gsf car parts for about £35 quid i think, not a bad job to do either

I'm getting a squeak too, when parking and decelerating for corner and pulling into a parking space... could this be associated, thought it might have been an engine mount...

I was thinking engine mounts too. It happens to me when im parking and taking off from standstill. If i give it only a little bit of accelerator then it will happen. Need to get it checked
