Just back from the VW dealers in Carlisle to get my front wings assessed (looking promising) and they've just rang and said they ran the car through the comp and it needs to go in for (and I quote) a recall on the ECU.
Now reading about I beleive this isn't actually a recall but just to get the software updated, what I want to know is what, if anything will I notice after this has been done? It was a bad line but I'm pretty sure they stated it would definately perform better afterwards????? yes? or is that part of it b*llocks?

If you have your car mapped then the update will wipe it from your ecu.

Running Std so no worries there.

There was an ECU update in about 2006/2007 to sort out some issues, never heard of another ECU update campaign since then. Is your car pre 2007? Could it have somehow missed this since 2007?

It's an 05 so probably never been in for the first one :stupid:
Any ideas whats involved?

Think it's just a software flash via the diagnostics socket, 5 minute job (but it'll probably take them at least an hour!)

Can assure anyone , these upgrades never just take "5 mins" that's for sure
It's just a software update that irons out a few small issues that can occur.
Its more than likely been outstanding for a while now.
