So i have just bought a mk5 GTI and some nice race seats of out my old car
corbeau-revolution in Kelvar
http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorsport/seats/corbeau-revolution-kevlarcarbon-seat
Now i would like to fit them properly , but would like to be able to refit the standard seat after track days / ring trips etc
Anyone else done this ?
I am thinking to fit them properly is going to require welding and painting and carpet removal and could mean the standard seats can never be fitted again

I have some Recaro Pole Position in my car so, so not quite the seats you have but I know what you want to do...
Basically, you mush find some Corbeau rails for the Mk5 platform. If you manage to find these, you only have to unscrew 4 bolts to take the seats of.
But, pay attention what you buy because some seats have a cover over the exterior bolts to make them nicer. These covers prevent you from unscrewing the bolts closest to the door.
In the picture below you can see the cover (just below the rails, hiding everything below):
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1237.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fff469%2Fvladpanut%2Fsite_P3157744.jpg&hash=7f3dd8c3fbd1d8fb3ca72e061eb6b8fb265257d1) (http://s1237.photobucket.com/user/vladpanut/media/site_P3157744.jpg.html)
Then, you must take the airbag into consideration (when the Corbeau seats are in the car). You must deactivate them and then reactivate them when using the normal seats.
Best of luck!

I'll get some Pole Positions one day! they're still on the list.

Although they are not one of the cheapest racing seats (or the most expensive) the Pole Positions are great, Mike. They really are a very good buy!
I bought them only for the 4 point harness but I find them much, much better than the OEM ones in all aspects. The only minor issue is getting in the car or getting out of the car. It takes a couple of days of practice and after that you won't even notice...
I've even had 1000 miles to do in a day and I didn't feel a thing. While driving with the OEM ones I always have some foot/back ache.

+1 for what rex said. Have the same Recaros on my car and they are much better then OEM GTI seats for lumbar support during long rides
