Title: anything to look out for?
Post by: markh93 on June 22, 2013, 11:39:13 pm
I've decided its time to move on and have decided to go for a edition 30. Im just looking for any tips or anything to look out for with these cars? Any telltale signs of problems etc? I am looking at a dsg box also instead of manual. Any help would be much appreciated, Cheers.

If your wanting dsg make sure that's the gearbox has been serviced every 40,000 miles (oil and filter) also make sure the car shifts smoothly.

As for the ed30 just the same as a normal gti check for rust on the wings etc have a search on here for things to look out for.

Good luck

There are alot of poor Edition 30's about so be careful . Maintenance is everything , any car you find that someone has skimped on any area AVOID it . There are good cars out there too with high mileage but generally the lower the better but then you will have to pay the "Low Mileage premium" . All the extras can be added later . Finally expect to spend £10k

Good Luck

They ain't as 'limited' as you may think vw sold more than the 1500 eddys they said they would be making for the uk market. Don't get me wrong tho still not many about, saying that their seems to be more eddys on here than the normal gti ha.

Hope your not after a candy white eddy because your long haul may turn into a decade ha,I've been searching around 5months for a white gti so thats bad enough never mind a white eddy.

There seems be be a few on autotrader but wether they are dogs or not I don't know and I'm guessing you will have looked their

What has been up with the ones that you have seen so far?

I've seen one or two decent ones for sale on autotrader at the moment.

to be honest nothing except they dont have dsg haha. i went and viewed a black eddy 5dr not to long ago and seen one at a local garage. didnt test drive any though. they both seemed ok condition wise but dont know how they drove. i want to test drive a dsg one before i consider travelling 100-200 miles to buy one

To help you decided, maybe consider looking at non Edition 30 GTis near by?

Then you could see which you prefer manual or DSG. Might even find a local garage that has both, you could jump from one to the other then.

Once chosen then start looking for a Edition.
